Former WWE wrestler Rikishi talked openly about the death of his brother, "Umaga" Eddie Fatu, in an interview with Jason Clevett for Slam Wrestling.

Rikishi called Umaga's death in December 2009 "something that's out of our hands." He said he's grateful for the opportunity to have a "heart to heart" discussion with his brother during the Hulkamania Tour in Australia last November.

"We had been one of the families that had been picked. It's a great loss, not just for our personal lives, but also for professional wrestling as well, as the fans," Rikishi said. "You never want it to happen to you personally. I'm very grateful that I had the last part of his life to spend with him in Australia."

Rikishi also talked about his sons, Jimmy & Jules Uso, who debuted on WWE Raw this week. The interview was conducted prior to their debut on Monday, but Rikishi said his sons are finding out the wrestling business is difficult.

"What I told my boys was, 'You guys have a lot of shoes to fill, but do what you feel comfortable with. Win the fans, win the match.' They're seeing why daddy walks through the door limping, don't want to throw the football, don't want to play basketball. But they're going to find out first-hand," Rikishi said.

Caldwell's Analysis: Rikishi has more quotes on Umaga from a fan perspective worth checking out in the interview. It's understandable Rikishi's way of handling his brother's death is to express feelings that "it's out of his hands" and it was simply Umaga's time. But, that doesn't take into account Umaga's lethal cocktail of prescription drugs that were in his system at the time of his death that stemmed from a documented pain pill issue. The mentality that it was "someone's time" is a nice way of dealing with the sorrow of losing another wrestler (or family member in Rikishi's case), but the cycle will keep repeating itself if the mentality isn't changed.
