DGUSA News: Dragon Gate USA announces format for DGUSA Title tournament, new wrestlers added Oct 1, 2009 - 3:31:52 PM
Dragon Gate USA announced today that 13 wrestlers will be scheduled for five matches to determine the promotion's first DGUSA champion at the November 28 show in Philadelphia.
DGUSA added the Young Bucks tag team of Nick & Matt Jackson to the tournament. The promotion has announced eight of the 13 wrestlers to participate. They are teasing that Japanese wrestler Dragon Kid will be added later.
The eight announced wrestlers are former WWE wrestler Brian Kendrick, CIMA, Davey Richards, Super Crazy, Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson, Mike Quackenbush, and YAMATO.
There will be four "first round" matches and the winners will advance to the four-way DGUSA Title match in the main event of the show to determine the first DGUSA champion. Considering the odd number of wrestlers, DGUSA has formatted the first round matches as follows.
-- Match 1: Singles match. Participants To Be Announced. (2 wrestlers)
-- Match 2: Singles match. Participants TBA. (2)
-- Match 3: Three-way match. Participants TBA (3)
-- Match 4: Six-way match. Participants TBA (6)
Total = 13 wrestlers
-- Match 5: Four-way match featuring the winners of 1-4.
