ABC's "Good Morning America" featured a segment on the Hulk Hogan vs. Linda Bollea divorce settlement. ABC's story included an interview with Linda that promoted a one-sided view of what led to the divorce.

The piece built a case against Hulk by portraying him as crazed, jealous, insecure, an adulterer, and one-step-away-from "being O.J. Simpson." Linda said she feared for her life at one point when Hulk's temper became too much for her to handle at the time when they were still married, but when the marriage was falling apart.

"It scared me because I thought everyone has their snapping point and I didn't want him to snap," Linda said.

ABC also included Hulk's infamous "O.J. Simpson quote" from a Rolling Stone Magazine where he said he could have turned his house into a crime scene. The story did not include the full context of Hulk saying he could have done that based on another man sleeping in his bed with his wife, but chose to take the high road.

"I don't know if he could go there or not. I don't think so but at the time I wasn't sure," Linda said. "I knew that he was probably jealous or envious or upset with the whole situation that he didn't have control of me. He didn't know what I was doing, who I was seeing and it bothered him."

Good Morning America's website is heavily promoting the interview as the top story from this morning's show with links to related stories, including quotes from Linda that did not air on TV.

Caldwell's Analysis: I believe this story is relevant because it will be interesting to see how much interest there is in a potential Hulk Hogan wrestling comeback - if that materializes - after this high-profile portrayal of Hulk in a negative light. Would parents still spend money on a wrestling ticket for "one last look" at Hulk with their kids after watching this piece? It's the same thing in baseball - do parents take their kids to games and support baseball financially if the players are on steroids or beat their wives? This piece on GMA will fade away in a 24-hour news cycle, but it could stick with potential ticket-buying customers. The piece was slanted against Hulk, but the average person watching the story wasn't thinking about that. It will be interesting to see if the anti-Hulk portrayal affects future earnings for Hulk if another wrestling tour materializes.
