OTHER NEWS: DGUSA VP Sapolsky discusses his new role in FWA promotion, backstage stories from ROH in England Jul 1, 2009 - 12:14:32 PM
DGUSA VP Gabe Sapolsky has posted a new blog on his Myspace page detailing his involvement with the re-launch of the new FWA in England.
"I will serve on the FWA booking committee and be as heavily involved as I can from the United States," said Sapolsky regarding his role in FWA. "The plan is to make a few trips to England per year, but in the meantime I'll watch the DVDs closely and participate in the booking via email and conference calls. Another part of the job will be writing columns for some various outlets and by reading this blog you can tell how much I enjoy to write. The columns will give me a chance to discuss a variety of new and different topics. This is all going to get started sooner than later."
Sapolsky also detailed ROH's first trip to England in 2006 and talked about having to reshuffle a card due to some injuries. "We had an early bell time that day in Broxbourne, so time was already limited," said Sapolsky. "Now we were faced with a sold out building of loyal customers who had paid top dollar for tickets and traveled far distances to see a genuine ROH show. The advertised card had to be radically changed due to the ripple effect of these two injuries. The revised lineup couldn't just deliver; it had to make up for the changes."
RADICAN'S ANALYSIS: This is a really good read from Sapolsky, as he tells some interesting backstage stories from England involving Nigel McGuinness, Austin Aries, and Jimmy Rave. Sapolsky also talks about some important lessons he's learned regarding use of talent in the post-Benoit era. Highly recommended.
