MMA News: Preview for tonight's Lashley vs. Sapp fight, Jim Ross picks his winner Jun 27, 2009 - 3:30:03 PM
Bob Sapp has been talking trash about Bobby Lashley's fight game for several weeks to build anticipation for tonight's MMA fight between the "fight entertainer" Sapp and the "former WWE wrestler" Lashley.
Lashley, in only his fourth MMA contest, will be entering the fight with a 67-pound disadvantage. During Friday's weigh-ins, Sapp tipped the scales at 322 pounds compared to Lashley's 255 pounds.
Sapp has been saying for weeks that Lashley won't be prepared for the pounding he expects to bring. Lashley has said he expects a "train wreck" that won't last the full three rounds.
WWE announcer Jim Ross, who is also an MMA fight fan, says Sapp is trying to sell tickets with his pre-fight trash-talking, but he expects Lashley win the fight.
"Unless Lashley walks in front of a gigantic, Sapp right hand and/or attempts to trade punches with the one dimensional Sapp, Lashley should be able to take his much larger foe down and pound Sapp into submission Saturday night," Ross said on jrsbarbq.com.
FYI: The fight takes place tonight in Biloxi, Miss. at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum as part of the "Ultimate Chaos" card. The event is scheduled for PPV at 9:00 p.m. EST. The event replays on InDemand systems at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
