DGUSA News: Dragon Gate USA announces PPV distribution deal with ROH's previous distributor Jun 17, 2009 - 11:04:04 AM
Dragon Gate USA announced a PPV distribution deal today that will deliver a bi-monthly schedule of taped PPV shows starting with the July 25 taping in Philadelphia from the former ECW Arena. The first PPV will debut in September on major cable TV providers.
Ring of Honor is out of the PPV business for now after their last PPV premiered on Friday. Dragon Gate USA, with former ROH head booker Gabe Sapolsky as a top executive, is now in the PPV business using ROH's former distributor, G-Funk Sports & Entertainment.
In Dragon Gate's press release, they said G-Funk represented DGUSA in negotiating with PPV companies to line up deals. G-Funk will also handle "all affiliate relations for the wrestling programs moving forward."
DGUSA executive Gabe Sapolsky said the Dragon Gate product will be a wake-up call for wrestling fans in North America who are tired of a "stale wrestling product" and are turning to MMA.
"Dragon Gate USA will swing the pendulum back and sound a resounding wake-up call for fans that crave athleticism, action, and excitement," Sapolsky said. "This powerful product will bring a cutting-edge wrestling style never before seen on these shores and present wrestling fans with an authentic reason to tune in and order DGUSA on pay-per-view."
