Other News: Drama already unfolding on "I'm a Celebrity..." reality show starring Torrie Wilson before tonight's NBC premiere Jun 1, 2009 - 2:18:55 PM
Even before NBC debuts their new reality show, "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here," tonight at 8:00 p.m. EST, cast members Heidi & Spencer Pratt threatened to quit the show over the weekend based on the living conditions.
The new reality show, which includes former WWE diva Torrie Wilson, is based on grueling challenges and trying to survive in the jungle. The contestants arrived in Costa Rica last week before being dropped off in the middle of the jungle where the weeknight reality show will be filmed.
Heidi & Spencer complained to producers that they were misled about the conditions in Costa Rica. They apparently thought they would receive star treatment and the "tough living conditions" were just for the cameras.
"They are back in, they calmed down, but all I can say is that what's unfolding here is some of the most extraordinary TV I've ever witnessed in twenty years as a producer," said NBC reality TV head Paul Telegdy. "I think Spencer thought he was about to arrive in some jungle-top Four Seasons, not a camp in the middle of the jungle."
Heidi & Spencer's wedding aired during the season finale of "The Hills" last night on MTV. Producers attempted to turn Spencer babyface in the final few episodes, but he will probably play the "annoying heel" role on NBC's show.
Torrie Wilson said in an interview last week that she was already leery of Spencer after participating in a pre-show promotional session in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. (PWTorch.com report.
She also told Jim Ross that Spencer is like the classic heel manager who tries to get underneath everyone's skin. "Spencer isn't well liked and my bet is that he sheds more tears than some of the women on the reality show," Ross said on jrsbarbq.com this weekend.
