The father of Andrew "Test" Martin, Bob Martin, says Andrew was "putting up a real fight" to turn his life around after completing WWE sponsored rehab. Andrew's parents live outside of Toronto, Canada and Martin had recently visited them from his residence in Florida.

"He was here at Christmas, and he was just great and we had a great time. January, February, March, he phoned. We had great chats about a lot of things," Bob Martin told Slam Wrestling.
"He knew it was going to be a struggle with him forever but he was willing to do it."

Bob Martin says Andrew kept many of his struggles private and didn't detail everything he was going through. Police found prescription drugs and steroids in his apartment after his death.

"He kept a lot of it to himself, but we knew some of it," Bob said. "That's the way it is in wrestling."

Andrew's father is trying to put the timeline together to cope with the loss. "We don't know what happened," he said. "I guess we'll never know."

Bob says Andrew's sister emailed him last Monday, another friend emailed him on Tuesday, and they tried calling him on Tuesday, but he didn't return their calls.

"We thought he was maybe away with his friends or something like that," Bob said. "We never thought about it."

Results from toxicology tests will be revealed in a few weeks to determine what substances were in his system to possibly discover the cause of death for Martin.
