Former ECW champion Shane Douglas is returning to the National Wrestling Alliance. Douglas is scheduled for an "NWA on Fire" show in March to compete against former ECW star Little Guido (Nunzio from WWE).

Douglas has not wrestled a regular schedule in five years and he was last seen on TNA Impact in a managerial role in 2007. The NWA says he is beginning his comeback with their organization, despite the controversial history between Douglas and the NWA.

"The man known as the Franchise is returning to pro wrestling after a five year absence and he has chosen The NWA to make his return," said the NWA on its website.

In August 1994 at the ECW Arena, Douglas won a tournament to determine the next NWA champion back when ECW was known as Eastern Championship Wrestling and was affiliated with the NWA.

In the famous post-match promo, Douglas threw down the NWA Title belt and declared the NWA dead, giving rise to ECW as Extreme Championship Wrestling. He declared himself the new ECW champion instead.

Douglas semi-retired from in-ring action in 2004 when he was battling a painkiller addiction. He then left TNA in 2007 when the problem intensified and he sought personal help.

FYI: The "NWA on Fire" show is scheduled for Friday, March 13 at Abraham Clark High school in Roselle, N.J. Ticket info will be made available online this week, and more information is available at 201-370-7891.
