In the Dec. 22 edition of Sports Illustrated, "The Wrestler" was listed as the best sports movie of the year in SI's year-end awards.

Reviewer Adam Duerson, who covers the NFL for SI.com, says what lifts "The Wrestler" to the best movie of the year is its "universal message."

"The screenplay...could apply to anyone who relies on his or her body to make a living, and it described the struggles ... that come when that body breaks down."

TNA star Mick Foley is referenced as one example, as Duerson says he sat next to Foley during a screening of "The Wrestler" in New York.

Duerson describes him as a "decidedly homeless-looking fellow" and a "former WWE champion" who stood out amongst the gathered crowd of well-dressed folks. He recounts Foley's comments during the movie.

"I took a seat next to Foley, and more than a few times during the film's 105 minutes he leaned over to me and whispered things like, 'That was sooo dead-on, man. They nailed it!'" Duerson wrote.
