Other News: Steve Austin movie update; status on Austin's movie deals with WWE Studios Nov 8, 2008 - 10:29:52 AM
Steve Austin continues to be pleased with the filming on set in Vancouver, Canada for his upcoming action movie, "Damage," according to Jim Ross in his latest blog.
"He seems to be really pleased with the direction the film is heading in and Steve is not an easy man to please when it comes to his creative projects," Ross said on jrsbarbq.com. "Perfection is hard to attain but that's simply the way Steve Austin is. Nothing wrong with that. The fight scenes in this film are going to be awesome."
The movie is currently listed for a January 2010 release, according to the movie website imdb.com, after the filming wraps up in Vancouver around Thanksgiving later this month.
In WWE's conference call with investors on Thursday, WWE executives were asked about obligations to current projects in the WWE Studios division. An investor asked specifically about whether WWE is obligated to two more movie deals with Steve Austin per the three-movie deal signed a few years ago, and WWE executives simply responded, "no."
FYI: Austin's first WWE movie, "The Condemned," did not fare well at the box office for a variety of reasons related to the promotional efforts behind the movie and WWE took an impairment loss on their financials as a result. Austin's current movie is being produced by Nasser Entertainment and distributed by 20th Century Fox.
DISCUSSION POINT: Are you looking forward to seeing Austin in another movie, this time not produced by WWE? Comment below in our new feature!
