Other News: Brock Lesnar says Kurt Angle and Bobby Lashley have no chance in MMA Nov 7, 2008 - 10:42:52 AM
Brock Lesnar says he's coming into MMA to represent amateur wrestling, not pro wrestling. He also he doesn't think TNA's Kurt Angle or former WWE champion Bobby Lashley can come into MMA and be successful like him.
"Are there other pro wrestlers who can come into UFC like me? Absolutely not," Lesnar told the U.K. Sun to promote next Saturday's fight against Randy Couture. "They just don't have the background that I do. Even top UFC fighters wish they had more wrestling experience in their background."
Lesnar says he's trained to become better-rounded in MMA to prepare for Couture, and he won't be depending only on his wrestling background.
"I can't rely on my wrestling. Randy is a great dirty-boxer and I've had to prepare for that and everything else," he said. "But I'm confident I've improved enough to win."
In the Las Vegas Sun, Couture says he's been where Lesnar as it in terms of having the solid wrestling background, but not being able to pick up the other skills necessary in MMA.
"I've been exactly where Brock's at," Couture said. "I've made that same transition that's he been in for the last three fights. I know the pitfalls, the frustration with not having the striking, not knowing the submissions as well as you want to know them."
Lesnar says he's prepared, though. "We've covered every aspect of his game," he told the Vegas Sun. "We don't avoid situations because anything can happen in a fight. We've learned how to control them."
