WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES
Chris Hero defeated Human Tornado in the main event of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla show Sunday in California, to win the PWG World Heavyweight title. In a bit of a surprise, Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black won the tag titles from Roderick Strong & El Generico as Generico took Jack Evans’ spot in the match. (It’s a surprise in that they are not regulars in PWG. The tag titles switch hands like a hot potato in PWG, so don’t be surprised if they drop the belts the next time they are there.) In one other note, Jay Briscoe skipped the show – not the first time he’s missed a PWG show – and he’s reportedly been fired from the promotion. Results are below.
In some unfortunate news, Mickie Knuckles, who has been wrestling as Moose in TNA, broke her leg Sunday night while wrestling Sara Del Rey in IWA Mid-South. No word on the severity of the injury or how long she’ll be out of action, but the timing couldn’t be worse, as she had picked up some big wins in TNA lately. Watch the footage at http://youtube.com/watch?v=pd5fm7EzJaw.
Dave Prazak’s Shimmer Women’s Athletes taped a whopping 20 matches for “Volumes 19 and 20” of the ongoing series of women-only wrestling. Both shows look great. Match results are below. Unfortunately, Daizee Haze had to sit out the show with a rib injury.
In other news…
Jersey all Pro is hosting a fundraiser show for a little league baseball team on Sept. 19, that will feature Rhino, LAX, Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt. More details later as we get closer to the date!
And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
