WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES
Ring of Honor heads to England this weekend for the final two shows with Samoa Joe! The packed lineup for Saturday’s show features Homicide vs. Davey Richards, Samoa Joe vs. Nigel McGuinness, Delirious vs. Matt Sydal, Roderick Strong vs. PAC.
Meanwhile, here in the United States, IWA-Mid South will run on Saturday in Indiana with the big rematch of Claudio Castagnoli vs. Mike Quackenbush. Fans have been waiting to see this one since Quackenbush pinned Castagnoli in the second round of the 2006 TPI. The current lineup is posted below.
UWF, which no longer bills itself as a “TNA affiliate” on its Website, runs this weekend with Scott Stenier vs. Kishi headlining tonight’s event. Both lineups are below.
One other notable indy show is the debut of Jersey Shore Wrestling on Saturday in Union City, N.J. This is an off-shoot of Jersey All Pro Wrestling, with the goal of having family-friendly shows with a smaller budget of local wrestlers, like EC Negro, Danny Demanto, Alicia, Johnny D, ChaCha, Archadia, Corvis Fear.
I am still tentatively slated to head to Green Bay, Wis., for the Mercury 1 Wrestling tournament, but it’s still snowing! AWA RUSH in Minnesota canceled its show Thursday night because the Twin Cities got buried by more than a foot of snow… for the second time in a week! UGH!
In other news …
Greg “The Hammer” Valentine has been added to the IWA Mid-South show on April 14 in Shelbyville, Ind., which already features legends The Honky Tonk Man and Demolition Ax. Check out www.iwamidsouthwrestling.com for more info.
Juggalo Championsh!t Wrestling ran in Minnesota on Wednesday, charging a ridiculous $20 ticket for a 4-match show, with only a handful of the advertised wrestlers appearing. I’m glad I didn’t attend. Results are below. Sad. Live reports I’ve read today talked more about the “Juggalos” and overly friendly strippers between matches than the quality of matches.
The Alliance Wrestling Force in Florida is selling its ring. For more info, write to AWF621@aol.com.
And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
