By Chris Vetter, Torch Contributor

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the country. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES

Ring of Honor, or its sister promotion, FIP, have run almost every weekend this summer; it feels like its news when a weekend occurs where there is no Gabe Sapolsky-run promotion. With no ROH/FIP this weekend, the big shows are IWA-Mid South in the Midwest, CZW in Philadelphia, and JAPW in New Jersey.

Jersey All Pro returns to Rahway, N.J., on Saturday with Jay Lethal vs. Charlie Haas, Samoa Joe vs. Rhyno, SAT vs. Backseat Boyz, Homicide vs. B-Boy, Azrieal vs. Archadia. The Rahway building draws some great crowds, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the action on their shows. Check this promotion out at www.japw.net.

Combat Zone Wrestling is actually running two shows on Saturday. The Chris Ca$h memorial show starts at 2 p.m. Ca$h was a regular on the CZW roster, who was killed in a motorcycle accident last month. The afternoon show features Ruckus vs. Derek Frazier vs. “Spyder” Nate Webb vs. JC Bailey in a ladder match.

CZW then will hold a night show, at 7:30 p.m., featuring The H8 Club vs. Zandig & Nate Hatred, Necro Butcher & Toby Klein vs. Chris Hero & Claudio Castognoli, Nate Webb vs. Kevin Steen, El Generico vs. Ruckus, and Derek Frazier vs. JC Bailey vs. Niles Young vs. Mike Quackenbush.

I am headed out this morning to IWA-Mid South in Midlothian, Ill. Tonight’s show features James Gibson vs. Matt Sydal, Delirious vs. Jimmy Jacobs, and Chris Hero vs. Arik Cannon. IWA-MS has added Japanese wrestler KUDO to the show tonight, and I’ve been impressed with his matches thus far. The show Saturday features Jacobs vs. Gibson; little else is known of the show. I’ll hopefully be back Sunday afternoon with a full report.

The NWA Upstate tag tournament is this Saturday in Irondequoit, N.Y., but Jimmy Jacobs & Alex Shelley are off the show due to Shelley’s ongoing back injury. The Ring Crew Express have replaced them in the tournament. Austin Aries & Roderick Strong will appear as a team on the show. There also will be a 25-man rumble-style match to determine a #1 contender for the NWA Upstate heavyweight title.

NOTE: I had a computer meltdown last week. Everything is fixed now; however, some e-mails were lost. If you sent me results or info on upcoming shows, and it has not been posted, please send it to me again! Thank you.

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
