By Chris Vetter, Torch Contributor

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the country. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

WEEKEND NEWS & NOTES

Ring of Honor ran two shows in New York over the weekend. CM Punk retained his world title on each night, defeating Jay Lethal on Friday and beating Roderick Strong on Saturday. In a surprise, the Carnage Crew of HC Loc & Devito won the ROH tag titles on Saturday, upsetting BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs. Results of both shows are below.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ran on Saturday & Sunday in Hollywood, Calif. On Saturday, A.J. Styles fought surprise mystery opponent Frankie Kazarian to a double count out. Results of the show are below.

Combat Zone Wrestling announced that the 2005 “Tournament of Death” will not take place in Delaware as originally announced; instead, it will be held at CZW’s home in the former ECW Arena in south Philadelphia. While I am not a fan of death matches, this undoubtedly is exciting news to fans of this style.

In IWA-Mid South, Josh Abercrombie defeated Matt Sydal in an Iron Man Match on Saturday, 3 falls to 2 in about 35 minutes )in overtime. Rave reviews from live reports. Also, Ian Rotten & Axl Rotten won the IWA-MS tag titles by defeating the Iron Saints.

On Friday in NWA-No Limits, Ian Rotten defeated Eddie Kingston in an “I Quit” Steel Cage Match. Results of that show are below.

I attended three very good shows this weekend. Despite the 90-degree weather, the wrestlers worked hard, whether it was at an outdoor show or in a sweaty, non-air conditioned armory. Results of Neo Pro from Friday, and MPW and NIW from Saturday are below.

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chris.vetter@ecpc.com I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
