In an interesting turn of events, current WWE wrestler/retired UFC fighter Brock Lesnar was cageside for UFC's PPV Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Also, UFC president Dana White said in a post-PPV press conference that Lesnar is considering a return to MMA, although nothing is official.

Lesnar, who is currently off WWE TV after "quitting" in WWE storylines, was in attendance for UFC fighter Frank Mir's latest fight - a loss to Junior dos Santos. Lesnar and Mir have split two UFC fights, prompting speculation that Lesnar could return to face Mir in a rubber match.

Lesnar is signed to a one-year deal with WWE through April 2013, but Lesnar reportedly can pursue other opportunities during his contract period.

Lesnar retired from MMA in December following a loss to Alistair Overeem. Lesnar then returned to WWE three months later following WrestleMania.

Caldwell's Analysis: At first blush, it feels like something WWE would have tried with C.M. Punk last year when Punk "quit WWE" after Money in the Bank and then could have made appearances to sell the idea that he "quit" when in actuality he re-signed a contract at the MITB PPV. However, there could also be something here if Lesnar is (a) legit healthy and (b) wants to secure another big PPV payday through UFC. This is especially worth paying attention to after, let's face it here, WWE botched the hype for Lesnar's big WWE return match at Extreme Rules by having him associate with mid-card heel authority figure John Laurinaitis, turning him into some sort of primadonna negotiating contracts, and asking him to cut long promos, instead of stressing that he's a B.A. intent on destruction. Stay tuned to see how this plays out.
