At last night's UFC 116 PPV in Las Vegas, Nev., after retaining his UFC Heavyweight Championship against the undefeated Shane Carwin (now 12-1), Brock Lesnar was congratulated at Octagon-side by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Bill Goldberg.

During the PPV the announcers pointed out "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson and Austin, who were not sitting together. Goldberg was not pointed out, although given that Goldberg was Lesnar's last opponent in WWE ring, it would have been a cool trivia note to mention.

UFC lead announcer Mike Goldberg, who was up for the lead announcing job on Raw and almost defected from UFC to MMA a few years ago, called Austin "Cold Stone" instead of "Stone Cold." He got it right later in the night on a second mention.

When Lesnar celebrated his victory in the crowd, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross and former ECW owner Paul Heyman were also shown on-camera sitting ringside near Austin and Goldberg.

At the end of the PPV, UFC cameras showed Lesnar in his locker room embracing The Rock as part of his post-fight celebration.

Keller's Analysis During the MMATorch Livecast tonight, MMATorch contributor Rich Hansen compared the main event to Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin where there was a double-turn. Lesnar was booed at the start, cheered out of respect at the end. Fans chanted loudly for Carwin before and during the fight. But after the fight, Lesnar was gracious, said this night wasn't about him, and then thanked his family, doctors, and training partners. He smiled and seemed gregarious and likable. Meanwhile, Carwin, while hardly a jerk after the fight, did drop a couple f-bombs after being the calm, supremely confident, soft-spoken, likable challenger in pre-fight interviews. The first caller to the show said he was the only one of his group watching who was cheering for Lesnar, whereas 12 were against him. He said by the end of the fight, 11 of those 12 were cheering for Brock.

I encourage you to check out the MMATorch coverage of the fight. Visit MMATorch.com for my live UFC 116 Blog, plus Jamie Penick's detailed fight report with star ratings.
