Perhaps the least-looked-at and most predictable title change at Night of Champions was also one of the most important. Christian won the ECW title for the second time. This makes him the second man on the Tuesday night program to accomplish this is WWE history following Bobby Lashley's two title victories in 2007.

What does this mean?

Well, Christian is not going anywhere. On ECW, when a former champion has been established as a main eventer, he is usually moved onto Raw or Smackdown to sink or swim in a bigger pond. Take a look at John Morrison, C.M. Punk, Matt Hardy, and Jack Swagger for some examples of this. They were all moved onto a main brand soon after their respective losses of the ECW championship.

Christian returned to WWE in February with little fanfare. His rumored return was to be in a high profile feud against Jeff Hardy, where he would cost him the WWE championship. This spot went to Matt Hardy and Christian was left to show up out of nowhere on ECW TV. Of course, Christian made the most of the opportunity and was actually one of the only ECW wrestlers to appear at WrestleMania 25.

Despite rumors that Vince McMahon has little faith in him, Christian has continued to perform well and is by most accounts the brightest star in the small ECW galaxy.

This causes one to ask a question: If Christian is so great on ECW, then why has he not been moved to one of the bigger shows, instead of becoming champion once again? Is Christian being rewarded with a title reign, or is he being punished by not being given the opportunity to shine on a main brand?

The positive thought is that Christian is being used as a cornerstone of the ECW brand and is a veteran that the younger wrestlers can learn from. He excels in that role, but he almost seems wasted. In that same vein, William Regal, Goldust, and Tommy Dreamer are also veterans that are more than capable of teaching. Christian joins them as the older portion of WWE's youngest roster.

The negative thought is that Christian can not do more than be a big fish in a little pond. Many will cite his TNA run as evidence that this is not true. However TNA has a small pond of main eventers on a large roster. Many would say that Christian is a great upper-mid-card champion, but is not a main eventer. They say that Christian does not have the charisma (pun intended) that his storyline "brother" Edge possesses. People actually said that same thing about Edge before his breakout years in 2005 and 2006.

Perhaps the solution for Christian is much like what it was for Edge. Maybe Christian needs a heel turn to show his true ability both in the ring and on the mic. Edge and Christian were a great antagonistic tag team. Christian was a great mid card heel in WWE early in the decade. In 2005, when fans were clamoring for Christian's main event push, he was a heel often referred to as the "Creepy Little Bastard" or CLB for short.

Could the return of the CLB help the Instant Classic become a classic WWE Superstar? Only time will tell. Until then, Christian will remain atop the ECW mountain (or hill) until it comes time to elevate another young superstar. Let's just hope that Christian manages to escape before his third ECW championship victory.
