EDITORIAL: Response to ESPN writer's heavy, uninformed criticism of Bobby Lashley for joining TNA Apr 22, 2009 - 12:54:26 PM

GUEST EDITORIAL
By David Miller, PWTorch.com reader
He degraded Lashley for appearing on what he called an "embarrassment to the human race" and referred to pro wrestling as "some poorly performed theater for the hygiene-challenged." He then went on to describe wrestling as "a deranged spectacle full of drug-addled performers taxing their adrenal glands in a poorly scripted imitation of athletics."
Tell us how you really feel, Mr. Rossen. Or better yet, tell us what you really know...about pro wrestling, that is. I'd place a safe bet that your knowledge of pro wrestling would not come close to filling a thimble. Now, I'm not going to deride you for your lack of pro wrestling knowledge, but I will question your decision to publicly insult Bobby Lashley and millions of wrestling fans around the world by commenting on a subject you obviously know nothing about. Your comments were not only uncalled for, but very offensive to the performers, the fans, and everyone involved in wrestling.
I'm going to take it upon myself to educate Mr. Rossen. Let's take a look at his little article from the beginning. He calls Lashley a former "WWE acrobat." Has he ever seen Lashley wrestle? Acrobatic is hardly the word that comes to mind. How did he "ruin" his MMA career by appearing at Lockdown? Did he sprain his ankle walking out onto the ramp? Did he hurt himself? Oh, I get it now...he hurt his MMA career by associating himself with those dregs of society.
I know some independent pro wrestlers who are actually policemen and firefighters. What common slime! What embarrassments to the human race! You know, on second thought, Mr. Rossen might be right about wrestling being a poorly performed imitation of athletics. Why, that match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker at that WrestleMania thing was the poorest imitation of athletics I've ever seen. How dare guys like Michaels pretend to be athletes! As for Rossen quoting a Woody Allen film, I have to wonder the level of a mind who watches Woody Allen films.
Mr. Rossen, it's okay if you don't like or don't understand pro wrestling. It's a free world. You're even free to voice your opinions of pro wrestling and it's fans. But if respect and journalistic integrity are things that are of the slightest importance to you, I'd suggest you keep your mouth shut unless you know what you're talking about, and who you're talking about.
