DEJ'S Kevin - Covering Pro Wrestling Ohio - The Road to Wrestlelution Part I Jul 28, 2008 - 12:43:58 PM
The show started with Matthew Justice & "Bloody" Morty Rackem versus The Clash, Brian Bender & Earnie Ballz. All four were in the ring already. Joe Dombrowski and Jamie Scott talked up the possibility of a ladder match between Justice & Rackem and Vincent Nothing & Jake Crist at Wrestlelution. Rackem and Bender started the match. Justice & Rackem tagged in and out executed both team and individual moves. Dombrowski mentioned that Virus and Virus Grande are still out injured because of the ladder match. Dawn was on the entrance ramp scouting for talent for the second consecutive episode. After some four way action, "The Clash" took over on offense. Rackem got the beat down and made the hot tag to Justice who executed a nice spring board clothesline and cleaned house on the heels. "The Clash" tried to take a breather on the floor but were hit with a suicide dive and a senton. Hobo Joe came out on to the entrance ramp and held up a sign which made Earnie Ballz run to the backstage area in pursuit. Rackem picked up Bender who then got a top rope bulldog from Justice for the three count. Matthhew Justice then got on the mic and talked up their ladder match. They then accepted the challenge of Crist and Nothing for Wrestlelution.
Analysis: The announcers talked up the "The Clash" as the veteran team and called Justice & Rackem's win a minor upset. "The Clash" have been jobbers from what I've seen so the sentiment was hollow. Ashley Lane was not with them at ring side which was odd since they saved her from a defeat at the hands of Hobo Joe on the episode.
Michael Cash interviewed Gregory Iron and he said he suffered a second concussion. The doctors told him not to wrestle again. Iron said he needed to finish business with Johnny Gargano and challenged him to a Last Man Standing Match at Wrestlelution.
Analysis: Good promo which helped to build up their big event with a personal feud which started around the league's debut eight months ago.
Pedro the Ring Announcer called Mike Tolar to the ring. Dombrowski and Scott talked up his credentials and win over Jason Bane from the previous episode. Tolar grabbed the mic and ran down the crowd. Benjamin Boone came to the ring as his opponent. They agreed to a match with no punching and kicking. A pair of take downs by Tolar and some hip tosses for Boone started the match. The referee got distracted and Tolar pulled a foreign object out from his trunks and clocked Boone. Tolar collected the three count. Dombrowski informed Tolar after the match that his open challenge for Wrestlelution has been accepted by Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. Tolar flipped out at the news.
Analysis: Tolar didn't need to win this way because they have built him up enough to be viewed as much better than Boone. Tolar also didn't need to freak out at Valentine's acceptance to the match because that should also be viewed as an easy challenge.
Cash seemed ready to talk about Wrestlelution when Marion Fontaine came into the screen and complained about Jimmy DeMarco's constant interference. Fontaine said he didn't know what to do about DeMarco.
Analysis: Fontaine should have challenged DeMarco to a match. A very weak response to someone that has cost you multiple matches. Fontaine should be fuming mad and ready to hunt him down.
Cronus and Aaron Maguire came to the ring next. Bobby Beverly was announced as his opponent. Cronus had his back turned so Beverly jumped him. After a spurt of offense from Beverly, Cronus hit the F5 for a squash win. Bane came to the entrance ramp and said the contract was five thousand dollars below Maguire's asking price. Bane said he wrote a check for the money to the PWO. The match is set for Wrestlelution. Bane then made an additional challenge for the match where Cronus will get the five thousand if he wins but Bane will get five minutes alone with Aaron Maguire if he wins.
Analysis: Another feud that is taking a logical step up for their big event. Good presence by Bane but the mic being used by anyone in the ring continued to have problems so it was hard to tell what Maguire said.
The main event started with Pedro calling Josh Prohibition to the ring. Dombrowski noted that Prohibition's only pin fall loss was to Michael Hutter. Scott countered that it was in a tag team match. Michael Hutter was called to the ring next. The winner of the match up gets a shot at the PWO Heavyweight Title at Wrestlelution. Hutter hit some high impact offense that ended with a clothesline putting Prohibition onto the floor. Prohibition took over with an eye rake. Prohibition had the majority of the offense for several minutes. Prohibition continued to test Hutter by pinning him but only got a two count each time. The action went to the outside where Hutter reversed an irish whip into the guard rail and sent Prohibition sailing over it and into some empty seats. Hutter talked to the fans after rolling Prohibition back into the ring and got caught coming into the ring with a guillotine off the top rope. Prohibition slipped on an STF. Scott took a shot at John Cena by saying that's how someone who can wrestle applies the hold. Hutter powered out of the STF by breaking the locked hands. Hutter hit a trio of clotheslines, a guerilla slam and a full nelson slam. Prohibition punched his way out of a power bomb and hit a suplex neck breaker. Prohibition went to a corner and pulled the ref into harm's way as Hutter hit him with a splash. Ashley Lane came to the ring and hit Hutter with a chair. Hutter laughed it off but was distracted long enough for Prohibition to hit him with the chair. Prohibition then hit the "Drunken Driver", which is a double underhook driver. The referee groggily counted three. Dombrowski informed Prohibition that his opponent at Wrestlelution will be "M-Dogg" Matt Cross.
Analysis: It was a solid match by two of the PWO's better workers. It could have flowed more smoothly if each guys offensive moment hadn't been slowed by their opponent so often. The announcement that "M-Dogg" Matt Cross will fight Josh Prohibition at Wrestlelution helped to further a third feud that has been inconsistent but did start at the beginning of Pro Wrestling Ohio.
