DEJ DISTRICT: Two legends, one ROH favorite to appear at card before HOF inductions May 22, 2008 - 7:15:25 PM
I love it when blogs write themselves. I love it more when they're written for me. By now, a lot of readers know the connection I have with the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum in my old stomping grounds of Waterloo, Iowa. I write about it as often as this website writes about unprotected chairshots. Anyway, I just received a press release from them, promoting the Harley Race World League Wrestling card to be held in town the night before the museum's professional wrestling hall of fame inductions. Read on:

Bret Hart, Roddy Piper to headline 'Night of Legends II'
Bret “Hitman” Hart and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper will be among the professional wrestling legends appearing at “Night of Legends II,” presented by the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum and Harley Race’s World League Wrestling Friday, June 27 at 7 p.m. at Young Arena in Waterloo, Ia.
Sponsored by Cedar Valley Sports and Entertainment Commission and 1650 The Fan, Night of Legends II is a tribute to yesterday’s wrestling greats and the stars of tomorrow. It is part of the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame induction weekend. Wrestling greats Harley Race, Danny Hodge, Brad Rheingans, Gene LeBell, Larry Hennig, Bob Roop, Red Bastien, and Baron Von Raschke will also make guest appearances at Night of Legends.
World League Wrestling will present five matches during the event, headlined by the World Heavyweight Title match between champion “Dangerous” Derek McQuinn and “Wild” Wade Chism. McQuinn won his first World Championship at the first Night of Legends, defeating WWE superstar Trevor Murdoch. Other featured matches include the WLW Tag Team Title match, with champions Steve Anthony and Marc Godeker defending against Dinn T. Moore and Michael Strider, and the WLW Ladies Title match between new champion Stacey O’Brien and MsChif. Go Shiozaki, a Pro-Wrestling NOAH star from Japan, will also compete on the card.
Advance tickets are available at the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute & Museum, Young Arena, and United Sport & Athlete. Credit card orders can be placed by calling (319) 233-0745 or by email at orders@wrestlingmuseum.org. Advance tickets are $15 for ringside and $10 for general admission. Remaining tickets will be available at the door the evening of the event for $17 (ringside) and $12 (general admission).

Go Shiozaki! How awesome is that? If all goes well, I'll be there live and can give a firsthand account of the show, as well as the hall of fame inductions the next morning. The 2008 class of inductees is composed of Roddy Piper, Stu Hart, Masa Saito, Abe Jacobs, Leo Nomellini and Ray Gunkel. The recently deceased Penny Banner also will be recognized at the induction ceremony. I always have a blast at these events, so get ready to hear all about it!
