Pro Wrestling Torch was established in 1987 by Wade Keller. One of the primary traits PWTorch has been credited with over the years is assembling the best and most diverse staff of columnists with broad knowledge, but also areas of specialty where they have a particularly strong grasp of history. Every day PWTorch.com presents that team of writers answering your questions, some of which are fact-based and others of which are opinion-based. Either way, we've got you covered with Bruce Mitchell, Pat McNeill, Sean Radican, Greg Parks, Travis Bryan, and Wade Keller. Collectively they have over 80 years working for the Torch, writing about wrestling and studying industry history and trends.

If you have a question you'd like us to respond to, send your question to askpwtorch@gmail.com. I, along with the Torch staff, will address you questions.

PWTorch reader & VIP MEMBER Kevin Buckley asks: Do you think it's possible WWE does a tag match of C.M. Punk & Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H & Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 30?

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: It's possible, but there would have to be a major stipulation involved or something at stake (control of WWE, perhaps?), because you're sacrificing two major one-on-one matches in order to do such a tag match. I've seen this match suggested by some, and while possible, I don't know that I'd say it's likely.

PWTorch columnist Sean Radican answers: I don't think you're going to see four wrestlers of that caliber tied up in one match. Those four talents, should they all be available at WrestleMania, are best suited for singles matches. I don't think WWE management would be able to find an effective way to maximize Punk, Bryan, Triple H, and HBK in a tag match when the real money would be putting those four in the best singles or multi-man matches. Especially if HBK comes back, it would be best for him to be showcased in a singles match rather than share the spotlight with three other performers in a tag match.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: Yeah, it's possible. If Michaels comes back, they've laid the groundwork for issues between him and both Punk and Bryan. It would be a sign that Triple H and Michaels weren't confident or in the mood to prepare themselves for a showcase singles match because I suspect if Michaels came back, he'd either come back because he was intrigued by a singles match that would be spectacular (which HBK vs. Bryan conceivably could be) or for the money (i.e. a payday he couldn't turn down). The tag match would be a sign of HBK getting an easier payday. Pride-wise, though, I think HBK would want to come back and be in the spotlight, not reunite a heel with Triple H and play second fiddle to him.

PWTorch reader Jim from Phoenix asks: What is the point of a two-out-of-three falls match when at least one fall generally involves an early surprise roll up and/or someone being pinned by a tertiary move that would only get a two count in a normal match? The "get intentionally DQ'd in the 1st fall to easily win the 2nd fall" isn't much better.

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: I guess the point is to get creative so you don't see three boring, normal falls in a match. With three falls, it allows the agents and writers to mix it up a little. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with this tact, just pointing it out.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: I'm not a fan of two-out-of-three falls matches for the reasons you stated. They tend to be booked in a nonsense manner. There's almost no reason a first fall should last any less time than a normal one fall match, short of someone tapping out a little earlier to a submission hold in order to "live to fight another fall." But even that shouldn't be super-early in the match. They disregard all realism when trying to rush through one or two of the falls. If they just booked a normal length match before the first fall ends, then they could shift into a shorter turnaround for the next fall or two because the wrestlers are already worn out. I'm more okay with the "get DQ'd in the first fall" to get an advantage to win the next two falls if only because it makes some logical sense. The heel decides he can't win fair and square, so he sacrifices one fall to get a huge advantage for the next two falls. It's like taking a penalty for hitting a quarterback in the head in order to take the starring quarterback out of the rest of the game.

PWTorch reader and VIP MEMBER Chris from La Quinta, Calif. asks: Was there ever a plan to train any of the football players in WrestleMania II to be full time wrestlers? How much training did the football players go through to get through the battle royal?

PWTorch senior columnist Bruce Mitchell answers: No, but the WWF sure would have liked to have talked the Chicago Bears' William "Refrigerator" Perry, a pop culture phenomenon at the time, into going into pro wrestling. Ed Francis, of the Francis wrestling family, already had some training, and the rest got just enough to get by.

===

PWTorch reader & VIP MEMBER Cody from Iowa asks: Last year the one to face the Undertaker at WrestleMania was determined in a match on Raw. With John Cena and Brock Lesnar seeming to be the obvious top two future opponents, what do you think about a match at the current or future WrestleMania where Cena faces Lesnar in a match where the winner will get the chance to challenge the streak the following year at next year's WrestleMania?

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: With Taker's age and injuries, it may be touch-and-go in the future as to whether he can even make WrestleMania, so advertising a match with him in it a year out may not be the best idea. There are so many creative ways to get to Taker vs. Cena or Taker vs. Lesnar, it feels like a match between the two for a shot at the Dead Man would be the least intriguing of them.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: I agree with Greg. Also, I wouldn't give away Cena vs. Lesnar as a vehicle to get to something else. That rematch should be a match that is fought because of Cena and Lesnar settling a feud, not just a match to decide who gets to fight Taker. Cena-Lesnar should feel like the Super Bowl not the Conference Championship, in other words. It would be a waste of a match that on its own can really be the central focus as opposed to a means to an end.
