Welcome to a new website-exclusive PWTorch feature! I am PWTorch founder and editor, Wade Keller. I've been covering pro wrestling since 1987 when I started the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter while still in high school. Over 25 years later, PWTorch reaches more wrestling fans every week than any other independent brand. When we launched PWTorch.com in 1999, one of the features I enjoyed doing the most was "Ask PWTorch." I haven't done it recently on the website, but did revive it in recent years in an audio format for PWTorch VIP members on my Keller Hotline. We reintroduced it to the website audience this month.

If you have a question you'd like me to respond to, send your question to askpwtorch@gmail.com. I, along with the Torch staff, will address you questions.

===

PWTorch VIP member James out of Dallas asks: Whatever happen to WWE Nathan Jones who came to The Undertaker's aid at Wrestlemania 19?

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: Despite some of the best debut vignettes...well, ever, Nathan Jones never caught on in WWE for a number of reasons. He was sloppy in the ring and had a tendency to injure opponents. In the end, what did him in was the travel, as he quit WWE while the company was touring in his home country of Australia. I liked him because he was a legitimate bad-ass, but he couldn't really be trusted with a position high up on the card.

PWTorch reader Jeff from Michicagn asks: Should WWE create one or more babyface factions to feud with the Shield, 3MB, possibly We the People group, etc? Would adding Kenny King from TNA and ACH from ROH to the Primetime Players work?

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: Babyface factions are tough to work with in the pro wrestling environment where the "every man for himself" mantra applies to those who are willing to fight without help. In other words, heels form factions so they have people to cheat for them or help gang attack opponents. There's not a great purpose in the storyline environment of pro wrestling for babyfaces to run together in a group, other than a tag team going for the tag team titles. Can individual wrestlers or two-man teams work together against a larger faction? Sure. But should they form a formal faction? That's probably unnecessary. I think the Prime Time Players work well as a duo, but I wouldn't be against their adding to the group, but you want to stay away from the idea that they're all together because "they're the black guys on the roster." There's been too much of that over the years, and it's one of the reasons Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas, and JBL & Ron Simmons were nice pairings - because they didn't end up together because some promoter saw two black guys and thought they should of course be a team. Obviously Sting is forming a babyface faction with the Main Event Mafia, so we'll see how it works out this time, but it can be done and is done on occasion.

Andrew from Manhattan: Big fan of the product. Have a question… Why is Paul Heyman constantly put down and crapped on by the announcers every time he is on TV. Does Vince really get into the ears of the announcers and tell them what to say? Why talk about his talent in such a negative way… then preach anti-bullying right after? I don't get it. Can you please explain?

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: I could certainly do without digs taken at Paul Heyman related to his being Jewish. That, I believe, is out of bounds in general and certainly is bad business since WWE has a lot of Jewish people they work with on the corporate side of things. That said, heel managers are there to be made fun of. Every heel manager acts up in some way that makes fans delight in his getting his comeuppance and being made fun of. That's what helps draw money. Fans pay to see the nasty heel manager mourn the loss of his hired gun when the babyface beats him. So part of being a heel manager is being the butt of demeaning insults and jokes. Bobby Heenan was "The Weasel" and fans paid money to chant that at him. Jim Cornette was a "mamma's boy" using his mom's money to live out his fantasy of being in wrestling even though he wasn't tough enough to be an actual wrestler. I love heel managers as a tool in the promoter's tool box, and in order to be heels, they have to have something about them that they get made fun of for, but it only works if they bring it on themselves through hypocrisy or arrogance or some variation of that.

Jim from Michigan asks: Will A.J. Styles, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, James Storm, or Samoa Joe ever jump to WWE? Most likely and least likely? Would WWE try and change their names and/or send them to NXT first, or would WWE use their current identities and acknowledge their past?

PWTorch columnist Pat McNeill answers: Will any of the five wrestlers you mentioned "jump" to WWE? Probably not. James Storm is probably the wrestler with the best chance of jumping. Aries is the least likely to be invited to join WWE, because of his size and Aries' reputation as an "attitude problem." WWE's talent relations department isn't looking for noncomformists.

Remember that WWE had a golden opportunity to sign Bobby Roode two months ago. If the promotion wanted Roode badly enough, they could have beaten TNA's offer, but they didn't. WWE would gladly sign a TNA wrestler if WWE though they could "hurt" TNA, but none of the wrestlers you've mentioned is seen as a drawing card or potential game changer.

Would WWE try to change the names of any of these wrestlers and send them through developmental to learn how to wrestle the "WWE style?" Absolutely, and they'll be doing that for any newcomer. I see WWE acknowledging the past of, say, an A.J. Styles or a James Storm, but I can't see WWE allowing any first-time arrival to hang on to his old gimmick name. Jeff Hardy would be the exception, because he already has a history with WWE fans.

PWTorch VIP member James asks: Thanks for answering my question on Tuesdays Livecast with Jason. I enclosed the YOUTUBE clip of the particular shot I was talking about because you and Jason seemed to have missed it and thought I was talking about the other one where Orton threw the chair at Bryan. This one was particularly jarring and stood out to me because Cole clearly references it as a shot to the skull.. Thanks again. (YouTube Link: http://youtu.be/fSLYOMd7aCM)
