WWE Live show results
July 10, 2015
Philadelphia, Pa. at Wells Fargo Center
Report by PWTorch reader Joseph Feeney

(1) IC champion Ryback beat Mark Henry to retain the Intercontinental Title. Quick match. "Ryback" chants were pretty prevalent throughout the building.

(2) WWE tag champions Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil & Darren Young) beat New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E.) to retain the Tag Titles. Langston especially shone in this match, the crowd was split about 50/50 between the two teams, and Titus received the hot tag to a huge pop. He and Kofi worked especially well together for a hot finish.

(3) Chris Jericho beat Luke Harper. Jericho came out for a Highlight Reel, but was immediately interrupted by Harper's music. Jericho then defeated Harper with the Codebreaker after a good back-and-forth match. Jericho looked just as good as always.

On a side note, whoever the ring announcer was for this show, he was not good through three matches. He paused before announcing each guy's name, like he had no idea who they are. It was very noticeable.

Next up was John Cena vs. Kevin Owens for the U.S. Title. Owens came out to a mixture of boos and cheers. He had the mic and ran down Philly, and promised to take back the NXT championship in Brooklyn next month. Cena came out to the usual mixed reaction.

Someone backstage must have agreed with my assessment of the original ring announcer, as Tony Chimel took over duties before the Owens-Cena match...

(4) U.S. champion John Cena beat Kevin Owens via DQ to retain the U.S. Title. This match was a kind of their "greatest hits" from the PPV matches so far, just a little slower paced. But, it was still very good. These guys just have that sort of chemistry. Highlights included Owens jaw-jacking with any Cena fan he saw in the crowd, and John hitting a picture-perfect jumping tornado DDT from the second rope. The ending sequence was pretty fantastic, with some very believable nearfalls, including a close two count after Owens hit the Attitude Adjustment. Owens hit a picture-perfect Swanton, and a twisting superplex that brought the crowd to their feet. However it ended in a cheap fashion, as Owens resorted to a blatant low blow in front of the ref. By the end, these two had put on another excellent match on par with their PPV encounters. Afterwards, Owens threatened to leave with the U.S. Title, but Cena countered with the AA to make the younger fans in the crowd happy.

[Intermission]

(5) Divas champion Nikki Bella beat Naomi and Paige in a triple threat match to retain the Divas Title. Paige probably got the biggest pop of all of them, the Bellas got a great reaction for their entrance, and Naomi came out to crickets and that terrible music. Paige and Nikki had some good exchanges, then you-know-who came in to kill the flow. All three hit a nice stacked superplex, though. Nikki got the win with a Rack Attack on Naomi.

Next up in the scheduled semi-main event slot was Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns. Bray's entrance is just as over as ever. Seeing all the cell phones lit up live is quite the scene. Reigns came out to mostly boos, with scattered female and children screams. Philly still doesn't exactly go for the Reigns act.

(6) Roman Reigns beat Bray Wyatt. Reigns was rather subdued for a guy fighting someone who is stalking and creeping out his daughter, as he clean-breaks in the corner, and doesn't chase Wyatt to the outside. Very, very slow-paced match and the crowd is getting very restless. They probably should've positioned this earlier. Whereas you had two top guys giving it their all earlier, you've got a supposed top guy mailing it in like crazy here; at least Bray is trying, but he's no miracle-worker. Reigns winds up winning with a botched school-boy. I didn't even know that was possible. Bray attacks post-match to get some heat back. Heavy boos "Reign" down on the babyface on his way to the back.

Bo Dallas was out next. He mocked Philly and the crowd for not having the guts to follow their dreams. Neville comes out to answer his challenge to a pretty good reaction.

(7) Neville beat Bo Dallas. Very quick sequences to start the match, with Neville impressive as usual. Dallas has some great heat. He slows the match down, and does his thumbs in the middle gimmick pose to another great response. This guy really can work the crowd well. Neville nails an Asai moonsault, followed by his Red Arrow in the ring for the victory. Really good quick match. These guys have great chemistry as well.

Next is the main event of Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins. Ambrose gets one of the biggest pops of the show. Also, this guy's merchandise is EVERYWHERE in the crowd. Will WWE see and hear that? Rollins comes out to a pretty big, surprising, babyface pop as well. He winds up turning the crowd against him after rolling out of the ring and telling everyone to "sit down, shut up, and watch The Master at work!"

(8) WWE World Hvt. champion Seth Rollins beat Dean Ambrose in a No DQ match to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Ambrose is in control during the early stages with his usual explosive and enigmatic offense. Rollins takes a bump over the top, and Ambrose throws several chairs in the ring. "We want tables" chants ring out, but Rollins takes over and deposits the chairs back on the floor to boos. Rollins gets back on the mic and tells the crowd there will be no chairs, tables, or kendo sticks, because hardcore is dead! He mocks ECW and says that company was full of degenerates like Dean Ambrose. Ambrose quickly fights back, only to fall victim to a Rollins diving clothesline. Rollins mocks Lesnar's trademark stance and delivers several German suplexes, but Ambrose hits one of his own, before running into the post. The champ utilizes his own belt, noisily whipping Ambrose to the groans of the crowd. A couple of drunks behind me attempt the start the "Justin Bieber" chant. It doesn't catch on and I almost feel bad for them. Ambrose gets control of the belt and whips Rollins's bare skin. A double cross-body knocks both men down. Ambrose becomes a house of fire and hits a bulldog out of the corner before heading outside to look for lumber. He finds a kendo stick. Rollins takes off but Ambrose quickly follows out with a plancha through the ropes. Back in the ring, Rollins takes control again, and lights Ambrose up with cane and chair shots to the back. Then it's Ambrose's turn after his slingshot clothesline, and Rollins get set into a chair wedged in the corner. A Tornado DDT almost gets a three count. With the crowd whipped into a frenzy, Ambrose brings a table into play. Thank God, too. If I had to listen to anymore slurring monotone table chants, I may have been in a Street Fight of my own. Rollins makes a comeback with a Pedigree that gets a two. The table is set up in the corner and after several teases, Ambrose gets powerbombed through it for another two count. Hopefully that table spot was satisfying. Rollins threatens to walk out, but comes back and Ambrose takes back over. Another table is set up and Ambrose nails an elbow. And then Bray Wyatt interferes for some reason to help Rollins get the win.

Post-match, Reigns makes the save for Ambrose. Sheamus attempted to cash in MITB, but he was foiled, and the show ends with Reigns and Ambrose standing tall.

- WWE returns to Philly on October 6 for a Smackdown TV taping.
