Global Force Wrestling Results
June 20, 2015
Pearl, Miss.
Report by Ernest C. Bowker of Brandon, Miss.

I attended the Global Force Wrestling show at Trustmark Park on Saturday. All matches ended via pinfall:

(1) Sonjay Dutt beat Jimmy Rave.

(2) Jigsaw beat Chuck Taylor.

(3) Thea Trinidad beat Lei'D Tapa.

(4) P.J. Black & Andrew Everett beat The Hot Shots (Cassidy Riley & Chase Stevens) when Black (the former Justin Gabriel) hit a top-rope 450 splash.

(5) Doc Gallows (w/Bullet Babe) beat Luke Hawx.

(6) Shelton Benjamin beat Chris Mordetzky (a/k/a Chris Masters). Benjamin, playing the face, won with help from Scott Steiner after a ref bump. Shelton was billed as making his GFW debut. Steiner was the "special guest" for the event and cut a promo pre-match that was interrupted by Mordetzky. He came back at the end, after the ref bump, to get a shot in on Mordetzky and revive the fallen ref after Benjamin hit his finisher.

Event Notes

- The show was better attended than I thought it would be. Maybe 500 people at Trustmark Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves's Double-A affiliate the Mississippi Braves. The crowd was a good one, too, a nice mix of enthusiastic kids and what seemed to be knowledgeable fans. There didn't seem to be a lot of "dead air" during the matches. The wrestlers seemed to sense it early and played to the crowd all night. The ring was at home plate and the crowd was concentrated between the dugouts, so that helped some, too. It actually helped generate some noise.

No idea how much of the crowd was paid and how many were giveaways. A loud cheer went up when Jeff Jarrett came out to thank the Mississippi Braves and their employees for hosting the event, but there also seemed to be quite a few people (like us) who bought their tickets at the ballpark box office on the way in.

- Match of the Night was the tag match between Black/Everett and the Hot Shots. Some good multiple-man and high spots in this one that generated the only "this is awesome" chant of the night from the crowd.

- Steiner and Jarrett did a photo session in the ring at the end of the show - for $20 per photo. I know this is a standard thing on the indy circuit, and how these guys really make their money, but the way they were selling it felt like a bit of a cash grab. Maybe I just haven't been to enough indy shows to be used to it.

- In the days leading up to the show, they had some $10 tickets for sale in the two sections closest to the dugout. We bought ours at the window and found out when we got there that they had closed off those sections and only had $20 tickets. Not a huge deal, as our seats right behind home plate had a perfect view of the ring (none of the seats would have been bad ones), but I'd have felt like I got more of my money's worth if we'd paid $20 for our tickets instead of $40, if that gives you an idea of show quality.
