Report by PWTorch subscriber Jared Macmullan
As my companions and I picked our tickets up from will call, we overheard a guy asking the ticket booth if they had ten tickets Roman Reigns left for him. I hope he got in.
Much of the top was tarped/empty. It was hard not to notice the empty seats, so it's safe to say it wasn't a sell-out. The crowd that was there was very enthusiastic throughout.
Next to us was a father and daughter age ten or so. She was into Roman Reigns and not into Fandango in the opening match. A few rows ahead of us sat a hipster-looking guy explaining the action to his girlfriend. She seemed into it and chanted along.
(1) Erick Rowan beat Fandango (w/Rosa Mendes). Big pop for Rowan, which kind of shocked me. After Rosa caused a distraction, Erick Rowan won with his finish in about five minutes.
(2) NXT tag team Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara & Kalisto) beat Tyler Breeze & Bo Dallas. Kalisto from the Dragons really worked hard and the crowd was into the fast-paced action from the Luchas. The Dragons won with a senton from Sin Cara in about six minutes.
(3) R-Truth (w/Burlap Bag) beat Luke Harper. R-Truth came out with the IC title. After his entrance he did the "what's up" routine followed by the "whoop there it is" gag before and then again during the match. IC champion Wade Barrett came out to retrieve his property while the match went on. R-Truth won with his finisher in about five minutes.
(4) Emma & Natalya beat Summer Rae & NXT Women's champion Sasha Banks. The Fans's Choice vote was a tag match or singles. WWE said tag won with 95 percent. The crowd was solidly behind Natalya, who was fired up during the match. I was pleasantly surprised to see Sasha Banks. She's great. Quick match with Natalya making Summer Rae submit to the Sharpshooter.
(5) Roman Reigns beat Big Show. Big pop for Reigns. I was expecting a Street Fight for this match, but Daniel Bryan was headlining. Without the gimmick match luxury we were treated to this offensive onslaught..... Roman's Offense: lock up, lock up, punch, punch, punch, kick, punch, sell, big outside apron kick, bash into the apron, sell, punch, punch, punch, sell, punch, punch, kick, punch, sell, sit on ass, sell, punch, punch, punch, punch, clothesline, clothesline, clothesline, clothesline, clothesline, sell, DDT, sell, spear outta nowhere for the win in about nine minutes. The kids were big-time into Reigns and he got a much bigger reaction than when WWE last came here in August.
[Intermission]
After the intermission, Ascension came out and said that Seattle is no Boston (ouch) and that we should be inducted into the Hall of Shame. I don't know how bad or good the Ascension are, but they couldn't even diss us about losing the Super Bowl right. Out came New Day. Big E. said he has Seattle's back and quickly ran down the list of our sports franchises, which created a loud "Sea-hawks" chant.
(6) New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods w/Big E.) beat The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor). The crowd backed New Day and mildly clapped along. Kofi picked up the win with a double-team move after six minutes.
(7) Dean Ambrose beat IC champion Bad News Barrett via DQ; Barrett retained the IC Title. Barrett used the belt as a weapon after trying to escape up the ramp, bringing he match to a disqualification. Post-match, Ambrose hit Barrett with a double arm DDT, then Luke Harper came out and stole the belt, resulting in R-Truth stealing it back.
The main event was next with Daniel Bryan vs. Kane. No announcement of a return show.
(8) Daniel Bryan beat Kane in a Seattle Street Fight. Thunderous "Daniel Bryan" chant to start. Kane stalled repeatedly to wait it out. Great action throughout with Kane and Bryan brawling ringside and using various foreign objects. The crowd roared with "Yes!" chants on-command. Kane begged off Bryan almost comically at times. Bryan introduced a table to a big pop. But, the table Bryan brought out broke, so he beat Kane with the broken leg and grabbed a new one. The match ended with Bryan hitting a running high knee with Kane holding a chair in about 20 minutes.
Afterward, Bryan grabbed the mic and told us next time WWE is in Seattle he will wear alternate blue/green trunks and boots for the Seahawks, sending us home happy.
Overall, we all had a good time. The main event was the best match by far and most else seemed par for the course.
Biggest Pops:
(1) Daniel Bryan
(2) Roman Reigns
(3) Dean Ambrose
