WWE Live show results
January 17, 2015
Las Vegas, Nev.
Report by VIP member Bob Pisack of New Jersey

The Mandalay Bay Events Center was less than half-full for the show.

(1) WWE tag champs The Usos beat The Miz & Damien Mizdow in 7:32. Double superkick and splash by Jimmy for the win. Big pops for The Usos and Mizdow, who never got in the match.

(2) Sin Cara beat Tyson Kidd in 6:00. Really decent pop for Sin Cara, but mostly from the kids. Tyson is actually growing into a nice mid-card heel. Sin Cara won with the senton.

(3) Jack Swagger beat Curtis Axel via submission in a short match. Cheap heat for Axel calling everyone fat, lazy gamblers. Swagger won with the Patriot Lock.

(4) Justin Gabriel beat Adam Rose. Gabriel hit a second-rope back springboard and kick for a quick win.

(5) Dean Ambrose beat Bray Wyatt in a Street Fight. Huge pops for both. There was a crazy spot where Bray tucked a kendo stick into the top turnbuckle sticking straight out and then he threw Ambrose face-first into the tip from across the ring. Ambrose sold an eye injury, but recovered. He set up a table, but Wyatt blocked with a sideslam. "This is Awesome" chant from the kids. Another table and Ambrose delivered a top-rope elbow. "ECW" chants. Ambrose reversed Sister Abigail and hit Dirty Deeds for the win. Pretty violent, long match for a house show. So far, all babyfaces going over.

[Intermission and Randy Savage package on the video screens.]

Next was a Fans's Choice six-women tag match - Summer Rae, Alicia Fox, and Cameron vs. Emma, Naomi, and Paige. Really big pops for Naomi and Paige.

(6) Naomi & Paige & Emma beat Summer Rae & Alicia Fox & Cameron in a six-Divas tag match. Lots of comedy and bits with the ref before Naomi rolled up Fox for the three count.

Chris Jericho made his entrance to a huge pop. "Y2J" chants followed, then a Highlight Reel segment took place. Jericho talked about The Authority, which brought out Cesaro for an anti-Authority rant and an interesting speech on "The Millenials" taking over. Cesaro provoked Jericho, leading to a match...

(7) Chris Jericho beat Cesaro. Nasty slip off the top rope into the ring by Jericho about five minutes into the match. He recovered around 12:00 to hit the Codebreaker for the win after taking the Cesaro Swing a few seconds earlier.

Main Event time with Roman Reigns vs. U.S. champion Rusev. Lots of heat for Rusev and loud "USA" chants, then the biggest pop of the night for Reigns.

(8) Roman Reigns beat U.S. champion Rusev (w/Lana) via DQ; Rusev retained the U.S. Title. The first five minutes were nothing but Reigns's punches and Rusev's kicks and headlocks to mostly dominate. Eventually, Reigns came back with a few punches and a sloppy clothesline until Rusev took over again with a nice kick to the face and Accolade attempt. Reigns reversed for a Superman Punch, but Rusev kicked out at 2 1/2. Rusev then grabbed the U.S. Title belt from Lana and hit Reigns Reigns for the DQ. Okay match with Rusev totally outshining Reigns.
