WWE house show results
October 4, 2014
Providence, R.I. at Dunkin Donuts Center
Report by David Lukasiewicz, PWTorch reader

The show opens with Cesaro claiming he will put things right tonight after bring screwed out of the IC title on Smackdown and Raw over the last week.

Justin Roberts is your host for the evening.

(1) THE USOS vs. LUKE HARPER & ERICK ROWAN

Huge pop for the Uso's during their entrance. Lot of back and forth action to start. Wyatt's take control after Rowan boots Uso brother (sorry I still can't tell them apart) off the top rope to the floor. At one point Harper hits a senton (?!?!) from the apron onto Uso in-peril. Knuckles to temple by Rowan to wear down isolated Uso. After the hot tag and comeback, Uso brother pins Harper with schoolboy roll up.

WINNERS: Usos in 9:00.

-A Sami Zayn video package aired on the big screen.

(2) TYSON KIDD vs. SAMI ZAYN

Handshake hijinks to start, then mat wrestling. Kidd and Zayn fall over the top rope to the floor. Kidd is apparently too injured to continue, limps his way back into the ring, then fakes Zayn out with a kick and stomps a mud hole in him. Good heel heat for Kidd. Kidd is later unsuccessful in his attempts to apply the sharpshooter. Zayn wins via pinfall with the Helluva Kick in the corner. Great match.

WINNER: Zayn in 11:00.

(3) A.J. LEE vs. PAIGE - Two out of Three Falls

Fans voted for a two out of three falls match. The other option was for a submission match. Lame C.M. Punk chant to start. Fall 1: Paige via pin with her feet on the ropes at 1:14. Fall 2: A.J. rolls up Paige in 4 minutes while Paige is gloating and skipping around the ring. Fall 3: A.J. hits a shining wizard, Paige with a fallaway slam. Dueling chants for both A.J. and Paige at one point but Paige also had decent heel heat. Crowd chants for Punk again during A.J.'s comeback. A.J. wins the deciding 3rd fall after 2 minutes with Paige tapping to the Black Widow.

WINNER: A.J. Lee in 8:00.

(4) BO DALLAS vs. R-TRUTH

Pre match: Lots of "What" chants as Bo humbly awards himself the title of America's Sweetheart. R-Truth is introduced and reminds us that the Network is only $9.99. After the opening bell, R-Truth starts "What's up" chants from the crowd; Bo tries to get some "Bo-Lieve" chants but is unsuccessful. Bo was very entertaining live trash talking R-Truth and interacting with the front rows. Pretty standard match; ends when R-Truth reverses the Bo-dog into a downward spiral for the win.

WINNER: R-Truth in 8:00.

-A Connors Cure video package aired followed by a WWE 2K15 promo

(5) SHEAMUS vs. BRAY WYATT - U.S. Title match

Very cool to see Bray's entrance live since we haven't seen it on TV for quite a while. "Let's go Sheamus/Let's go Wyatt" chants to start which surfaced on and off throughout the course of the match. Wyatt on the advantage at the 4 minute mark due to outside interference from Harper and Rowan; as a result the referee ejected the Wyatt family from ringside. Wyatt hit a DDT on the ring apron for 2. Lots of back and forth hard hitting action in this match. Saw a lot of both of their movesets. The crowd was super into the match and all the false finishes. Ref bump at 17 minutes and Harper and Rowan return to the ring to beat down Sheamus. Uso's run down to make the with save and hit dual suicide dives on Harper and Rowan on the floor. Sheamus recovers from beating, reverses Sister Abigail's Kiss into Brogue Kick for the pin. Sheamus celebrates with the Usos post match. Very physical entertaining bout.

WINNER: Sheamus in 19:00.

-A WWE Network promo aired. Justin Roberts starts a $9.99 chant after the promo and shows off some merchandise available at the concession stands just in time for... intermission.

Post intermission starts with Fandango's music/entrance. The crowd is SUPER excited and starts "Fadango-ing" but...... no Fandango. The dance party is interrupted by the Miz. He makes his way to the ring insulting the "losers" in Providence and reminds us that nothing significant ever came out of Providence to pretty decent heat. Miz reminds us all that he's a big star from Hollywood and that if his opponent tonight doesn't hit him in the "moneymaker" that he will award him a supporting role in his next "big film." Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter are introduced with very loud "We the People" chants.

(6) THE MIZ vs. JACK SWAGGER (w/Zeb Colter)

Weaselly hit and run tactics by Miz to start. Miz gets into it with fans at ringside; a female fan appears to get ejected. Miz reverses a Swagger bomb and takes control of the match. Swagger comes back but Miz counters the Patriot lock. Miz counters the Patriot lock sending Swagger face first into the top turnbuckle. Miz back in control and applies the figure 4. Swagger breaks the hold in the ropes. A Swagger punch to the "moneymaker" allows Swagger to apply the Patriot lock for a second time and Miz taps.

(7) CESARO vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER - IC Title match

Ziggler's entrance gets a big pop. Early advantage to Cesaro, hits Dolph with multiple axe handles off the 2nd rope. Cesaro applies the abdominal stretch with leverage from the top rope eventually broken by the ref. Cool spot where a tilt a whirl is countered into a sleeper by Ziggler. Famasser by Ziggler gets a two count. Big swing attempt by Cesaro countered into a small package by Ziggler; after a few reversals Dolph gets the pinfall after the Zig Zag.

WINNER: Ziggler in 9:00.

(8) JOHN CENA vs. SETH ROLLINS - Street Fight

I believe John Cena's father was sitting in the front row (I remember Randy Orton attacking John's father after his upset loss to Kofi Kingston on Raw in January here in Providence). Biggest pop of the night for Cena's entrance. "Let's go Cena/Cena sucks" chants starts once Cena is in the ring; crowd is very pro-Cena. Rollins takes a couple swings at Cena with the MITB briefcase to start; John counters with a steel chair. Rollins hits Cena with a Blockbuster off the top rope to take the advantage early on. Brawling outside the ring for a while. Rollins grabs the mic and taunts crowd, "Cena sucks, let's go Cena; is that all you got?? You are looking at the living, breathing future of the WWE right now!! What about me??" which prompted some "Let's go Rollins" chants from all the adult male/non-fathers in the crowd. Rollins reverses a Cena STF while grabbing the ropes for a break and hitting an enziguri. Humorous spot where Rollins sets a table up in the corner but acts as if the table weight about 200 lbs (even the eight year old behind me said "that's not that heavy"). Cena reverses a whip into the corner and Rollins shatters the table. Cena brings the steps into the ring; Rollins downward spiral's Cena onto ring steps for a two count. Sethwalker gets 2, Rollins then hits a low blow. Rollins sets Cena on another table and appears to be going for a Curbstomp off the top rope when SuperCena recovers. Cena AA's Rollins off the top rope through the table and gets the pin.

WINNER: Cena in 22:00.

No return date scheduled but Justin Roberts said they'd be back "real soon."

Loudest Pops
1. John Cena
2. Sheamus
3. Uso's
4. Ziggler

Biggest Heat
1. John Cena
2. Miz
3. Tyson Kidd

This show was a lot of fun and much more entertaining than the last few weeks of RAW. Nice for the focus to be on wrestling only. Lots of kids and families here for the show and they went home happy; babyfaces were 8 for 8 tonight!
