Long Island, N.Y. at Nassau Coliseum
Report by Brian Kanter, PWTorch reader
The upper bowl was empty and the lower bowl was full.
(1) Dolph Ziggler beat Alberto Del Rio via pinfall in 18 minutes. Big heat for Del Rio throughout; nice pop for Ziggler. There were approximately 25 false finishes.
Post-match, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan beat down Ziggler. Harper then cut a promo telling Usos that tonight they take what is theirs, the Tag Team belts.
(2) Wade Barrett beat Rob Van Dam and Kofi Kingston in a three-way match to retain the Intercontinental Title. RVD hit a frogsplash on Kofi, then Barrett hit his finishing move on RVD and pinned Kofi to win. Big initial pop for RVD, but not much heat on Bad News because he cut a promo that while he had bad news he was in a benevolent mood.
(3) Santino & Divas champion Paige & Emma beat Fandango & Layla & Alicia Fox in a six-person tag match. Santino won with the Cobra in 15 minutes of awfulness. Alicia Fox had a meltdown post-match, which drew a lot of heat and "You Can't Wrestle" chants.
(4) Rusev beat Big E. via submission to The Accolade Camel Clutch in 9:00. It was a battle of flag-waving Rusev and flag-waving Big E. Overall, a boring, plodding big man match. Not much offense from Big E.
(5) WWE tag champs The Usos beat Erick Rowan & Luke Harper in 12:00 to retain the Tag Titles. Eight minutes in, one of the Usos connected with an uppercut to Harper, and a tooth visibly flew out of his mouth out of the ring. Harper held his mouth, but continued. I did not see blood, but it did appear a tooth was launched. For the finish, Jey Uso rolled up Harper for the win. Typical TV tag match.
[Intermission]
Next was a Fans's Choice on The Miz vs. Adam Rose. Miz came out as a self-proclaimed movie star and actor extraordinaire. Rose then came out with his crew to little to no pop. Dance-off won 51 to 49 percent. Miz did a swan dance while dousing himself with water. Rose danced to party people, and was attacked from behind from Miz. They tussled for a minute and that was all there was to it. Just terrible and the crowd was not into it.
(6) Goldust & Stardust beat Ryback & Curtis Axel. Two minutes in, Ryback received "Goldberg" and "boring" chants. Four minutes in, Axel got "You Can't Wrestle" chants. At ten minutes, Stardust (Cody Rhodes) pinned Axel with a new finisher for win. Interesting to see Cody's new style as Stardust.
Main Event time with John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt in a Street Match. The biggest pop of night was for Cena, then the dueling "Cena Sucks / Let's Go Cena" chants were even-sided.
(7) John Cena beat Bray Wyatt in a Street Fight. At six minutes, Bray asked if Long Island wants tables. Cena then went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Bray did his arched back thing, freezing Cena and leading to all of the Wyatts attacking Cena. The Usos then ran down to the ring to clear off Rowan and Harper. After a long battle in the middle of the match, both men were down and what do you know it is Kane minus The Authority. Chokeslam on Cena, and the kid behind me does not understand why a demon is throwing an assist to a cult leader. Kane delicately places Bray on Cena for pin, but Cena kicks out at two. Cena bench-presses Kane and then Bray hits Sister Abigail. Bray has table in hand while Cena is restless in the ring dreaming about jokes he will tell on Raw. A table is set up in ring, the kid behind me says, 'Don't let him do it, John Cena," and dreams do come true because Cena reversed and Bray eas planted through table to give Cena the win with a 1-2-3.
