IWF show results
March 29, 2014
Phoenix, Ariz.
Report by John, PWTorch reader

International Wrestling Federation held their debut show, "Breaking Ground," at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix. Estimated attendance was 400 people.

(1) Rich Swann beat J.T. Dunn, A.R. Fox, and Anthony Nese with a 720 flip/splash. Great opening energy and pacing.

(2) Tyshaun Prince beat Alexander Hammerstone with a Bubbabomb-like finisher. Quick match.

(3) Tito Escondido & Che Cabrera vs. The Hurricane & Tommy Drake ended in a No Contest. Rellik and Dexter Verity (a prophet character similar to Mordecai) stormed the ring and beat up everyone except Hurricane.

(4) Brian Cage (w/Stu) beat Shad Gaspard via pinfall. A lot of Cryme Tyme references and insults by Stu.

(5) Ultimo Guerrero & Reaper beat Valiente & Mascara Dorada in a Lucha tag match.

(6) Carlito beat Willie Mack via pinfall. Kevin Steen was supposed to be in this match, but was at the hospital for the birth of his daughter. Carlito made some jokes prior to the match.

(7) Chris Hero beat Chris Masters via finisher/punch. Good reaction for both wrestlers.

(8) Reno Scum beat the Young Bucks via pinfall. Some great high spots and good action by both teams.

(9) Austin Aries beat Ricochet via Brainbuster finisher. Excellent storytelling and the Match of the Night, in my opinion. There were extended "Austin Aries" chants similar to Bound for Glory 2012. Afterwards, Austin Aries respectfully put over Ricochet as a stellar competitor.

(10) John Morrison beat Shelton Benjamin via Starship Pain finisher.

Afterward, Morrison thanked the crowd for helping launch this new promotion and said he looks forward to seeing it grow as the independent promotion of Arizona.

Overall: One of the best independent shows I have seen with big name talent and good matches. It was great seeing wrestlers like Austin Aries and Ricochet give their best to the house show audience. It was appreciated.

May 18 will be the next show. Scheduled to appear are Austin Aries, Matt Hardy, Trent Baretta, Ricochet, A.R. Fox, Rich Swann, Brian Cage, and Reno Scum.
