WWE Live show results
March 1, 2014
Jacksonville, Fla.
Report by VIP member MikeyG from Daytona, Fla.

I attended the WWE Live show in Jacksonville Saturday night and I have to say I was very surprised with the show. It was the best non-televised show I think I've attended and I've been to a lot.

The Jacksonville crowd was very into a show in a way that surprised me for non-TV and the matches were pretty good. Here is a quick rundown and then some thoughts.

(1) IC champion Big E. beat Ryback and Fandango in a three-way match to retain the Intercontinental Title. Your typical three-way with everyone "getting their stuff in." The crowd was into this one and popped for both Ryback and Big E. upon entrance. However, during the course of the match Ryback generated some good heat and the crowd got behind Big E. as he pulled down the straps and the win. Big E. was actually one of the most over guys of the night.

(2) Tyson Kidd beat Curtis Axel. Less response in the beginning, but I gotta say the guys told a story and got the crowd to respond over the course of the match. By the end, fans were booing Axel and actually chanting for Tyson Kidd which through me off because his lack of exposure. Tyson got the clean win, which shows how far Axel has fallen over the last year but still some good action.

(3) Sin Cara beat Alberto Del Rio. Alberto got a mixed reaction and Sin Cara got a decent one. This one started very slow with Alberto running away a few times including standing out in the crowd to retreat. After a handshake spot that ended with Alberto dropkicking Cara, things heated up. It was a slow burn, but they told a great story and things got a lot quicker later on. After some back and forth and lots of quick spots, Cara rolled up Del Rio for the win. My only problem work this one was both men worked as tweeners. Del Rio played to crowd as face in the beginning and Cara wouldn't do the handshake and he won with a handful of tights. Either way good action.

Enter the Real Americans with Zeb Colter. Zeb got on the mic and did his routine calling Florida "Georgia" and trying to generate some heat from Jax crowd and it worked. He said there were no problems between the Real Americans and tonight they would show it against the Rhodes Brothers.

(4) Rhodes Brothers beat Real Americans (Jack Swagger & Cesaro). A good old school tag match. Entire match consisted of Real Americans cutting the ring in half and talking it to Cody. While beating down Cody, the heels teased confrontation by blind-tagging each other not to the liking of his teammate. The did almost every spot teasing a split while beating down Cody. Cesaro got both his big uppercut and Big Swing in before Cody finally tagged in Goldust and the crowd went crazy as he cleaned house. Goldust did lots of unfamiliar spots including a moonsault, a sunset flip powerbomb type move, and an attempted huracanrana. It worked, as the crowd loved it. The Brothers got all their stuff in and got the win.

[ Intermission...which consisted of me realizing there were only two merchandise stands and the kids with me were upset because the show started while in line and we were unable to get anything. After the show, though, they bought some Cena merch. ]

We returned to see Wade Barrett and The Miz with a mic exchange. General stuff with some "USA" chants.

(5) Wade Barrett beat The Miz. This was definitely the least over match of the night. Some back and forth with Barrett winning with the elbow . Nothing special from either men.

Next it was announced the Divas would be wrestling, as opposed to a dance off.

(6) The Bellas beat Askana & Alicia Fox. Nothing special here. Typical Divas match with Bellas winning. Fans chanted "We Want Dance-off" during the entire match and Bellas did a few dancing spots to quiet them. Afterwards, both Bellas did the worm to keep fans happy.

Justin Roberts hyped the crowd a bit while they built the cage for the main event. They played WWE Network promo videos, Hulk Hogan's return, and WrestleMania hype before main event.

(7) WWE World Hvt. champion Randy Orton beat John Cena in a Steel Cage match to retain the WWE World Title. Cena was over big here. No surprise. Typical match-up between these two. Both men hit their finishers and both times other man kicked out. The fans ate it up. Back and forth action with Orton trying to escape and Cena cutting him off over and over. The finish came when Orton pushed the ref into Cena and then low-blowed him before climbing out cage door. Lackluster finish.

Afterwards, Cena thanked everyone for coming out.

- Additional Notes: Three times during the show, the crowd broke out in "C-M Punk" chants. They didn't last long but they did catch on. ... As the WWE team built the cage, there was a good-sized "Yes!" chant for D-Bryan. ... There was a dueling "Let's Go Cena / Cena Sucks" chant during the main event, but it seemed like more for fun than dislike of Cena.

Biggest Pops:

- Cena (by far)
- Big E.
- Rhodes Brothers

Most Heat:

- Orton
- Barrett and Zeb both while on mic
- Ryback during the match. He actually got cheered in the beginning, but drew heat during the match.
