WWE house show results
December 8, 2013
Spokane, Wash.
Report by Alexander Bell, PWTorch reader

I took my son and daughter to the show, and it was my 6-year-old son's first show. He was stoked. We got there and they upgraded our seats. Only about 2,500 people were there, maybe. Bad storylines are hurting WWE, in my opinion.

(1) The Usos beat Real American. It was a very entertaining match that took me back to '80s Wrestling where the heels really play the crowd with every action. The Real Americans were brilliant heels and took a lot of heat. And, I got to see the Giant Swing! Usos won, but R.A. were the entertainment.

(2) Alexander Rusev (from NXT) beat Zack Ryder. I got a beer for this one. Pretty much a squash match. Meh.

(3) Funkadactyls beat Alicia Fox & Aksana. Okay match. They did their best and it wasn't the worst Divas match ever. But, it left me wanting.

(4) Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz ended in a No Contest. I gotta say, other than the unsatisfying ending, this was the match of the night. The crowd started pro-Kofi, but The Miz swung the crowd in his favor with outstanding work. The match featured great back and forth with several nearfalls and had the crowd really into the match. I believe Miz needs to find the character he had tonight and put it on TV. It was awesome. For the finish, The Shield interfered and Rhodes Bros. came in for the save, which led to the next match.

(5) WWE tag champions Cody Rhodes & Goldust beat The Shield (Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns) to retain the WWE Tag Titles. Decent match, but I am starting to feel like I have seen it too much. It takes the polish off it a little bit. Still fun.

[ Intermission. Time for another beer. Interesting side note. While walking through the concourse, there were several guys walking through with a Ring of Honor sign chanting that the only real wrestling was in ROH. I even chatted a little with them. ]

(6) U.S. champion Dean Ambrose beat Dolph Ziggler and Damien Sandow in a three-way match to retain the U.S. Title. This match had the move of the night. I had never seen it before. Ziggler had Ambrose set up for a superplex. As he lifted Ambrose, Sandow walked under Ziggler and powerbombed him as he superplexed Ambrose. IT WAS INCREDIBLE and got the pop of the night. Sandow is the future - he is really good in-person. Ambrose pinned Ziggler for the win.

(7) Ryback squashed Santino. Santino is good for comic relief and not much else. Ryback hit one clothesline and pinned him. Not very satisfying.

(8) WWE World Hvt. champion John Cena beat Alberto Del Rio to retain World Title. Cena hasn't been to Spokane in a few years, so he got a massive pop. Typical Cena match. It was entertaining, but pretty much his same few moves. I like Cena and would love to see the version of him from Summerslam much more.

Overall, it was a decent show. It was awesome for me because my kids had a blast. A Cena show brings out the kids and there were a lot there. I hope they don't wait a year to come back again... or Ring of Honor starts coming west. Now that would be awesome.
