New England Championship Wrestling report
June 8, 2012
Bridgewater, Mass.
Report by PWTorch VIP member Zim

Top Story: Colt Cabana beat Adam Pearce in the second match of their Best-of-Seven series to go up 2-0.

- Doors opened about 7:45 p.m. for a meet & greet with Colt Cabana at his merchandise stand. I got my Colt t-shirt signed and picked up his "Wrestling Road Diaries" DVD.

I was one of the first to notice Colt standing there, so I got in before the line grew. He came across like such an awesomely down to earth guy, and got to chat for about five minutes. I asked if he talks to Daizee Haze. According to Colt, she's doing much better now than she was, but most likely won't be back in the ring. "She's finding her path in other aspects of life," he said, which I was glad to hear.

- Crowd estimate about 200. They were very enthusiastic and energetic; great environment.

- None of the undercard wrestlers amazed, but there were a few I saw some potential in.

A tag team that goes by the name The Hooligans, as well as the tag team champions All Money is Legal could be something some day, but name changes may be in order.

A guy named The Giant Pharaoh amazed the crowd with a top-rope splash onto his two opponents, as he is about 7-feet-tall. He works on the independents, but lacks the "it factor" required for more.

- The opening match featuring a Chris Masters look-a-like named Tony Delfonzo. He can't really go in the ring, but he has a major WWE look. His opponent was "The Sure Thing" Mark Shurman, who was a solid worker and good heel. I see potential in him.

- "The Crown Jewel" Elia Markopolous was great. He looks like Zema Ion and has a manager named "Mr. Fabulous" Tony Ulysses, who is a large, effeminate African-American wearing pink gloves and a purple scarf with a purse. He really stood out and had the crowd in stitches at times. Unique act.

- Some guy who looks like Raven came through the fan entrance, beat up a guy, and left through the fire exit in what made for a really intense few minutes. They never said his name, but he got a pop.

- In the main event, Colt Cabana defeated Adam Pearce in the second match in the Seven Levels of Hate series to go up 2-0. It was a Boston Street Fight, which saw both men brawl out of the ring and through the crowd. Chairs-a-plenty. I was bummed not to see Cabana's amazingly unique offense in the ring, but the excitement level was so high that it didn't matter in the end.

The finish came when Colt hit a top-rope moonsault during which his foot went through the ceiling, but he nailed it perfectly anyway. It was one of the best moonsaults I've seen live, and impressive for Cabana's size, too. Pearce kicked out, then Cabana locked in the Billy Goat's Curse and Pearce's arm dropped three times. Your winner by submission/KO in about 12 minutes: Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana.

The crowd was solidly behind Cabana, who is one of the best out there right now and without a doubt one of the top two or three wrestlers on the American independent circuit today. Overall, I had a blast, and I was glad to see Colt win!
