WWE Supershow results
June 18, 2011
E. Rutherford, N.J.
Report by A.J. Maltest of Lodi, N.J., PWTorch reader

Estimated crowd: approx. 8,000. Very good show.

(1) Evan Bourne beat Sheamus. Bourne scored the pin with two kicks to the head and Air Bourne. Good opener. Sheamus dominated until the end. (**)

Kelly Kelly was introduced as Guest Host. The Bellas came out and threatened her, then Beth Phoenix ran out to chase out the Bellas. The Raw GM chimed in that if the Divas want to fight, let’s do it now.

(2) Beth Phoenix beat Divas champion Brie Bella in a non-title match. For the finish, the Bellas tried to switch when the ref was distracted, but Kelly Kelly stopped the switch. (*)

(3) Intercontinental champion Wade Barrett beat Ezekiel Jackson to retain the IC Title. Decent match. For the finish, Jackson gave Barrett five consecutive body slams. He then charged him in the corner, but Barrett ducked. Jackson hit the corner and Barrett won with a school boy with his feet on the ropes. (*1/2)

Christian was introduced. He advised that Randy Orton can’t wrestle tonight due to the concussion, but the scheduled title match will take place tomorrow on PPV (Orton vs. Christian had been advertised for this show).

(4) Christian beat Daniel Bryan with the Killswitch. Good wrestling match. The fans weren’t totally into it, as Christian wasn’t that hated and the fans were not strongly behind Brian. (**)

(5) Big Show beat Alberto Del Rio with the chokeslam. To start the match, Show came out and attacked Del Rio. Del Rio was mostly on defense. The fans were into the match. (*1/2)

(6) Sin Cara beat Cody Rhodes with a roll-up after a series of flying moves. (**)

(7) WWE tag champions New Nexus (Michael McGillicutty & David Otunga) beat Santino & Kozlov to retain the WWE Tag Titles. For the finish, Ryan hit Koslov from behind while others were outside of the ring. McGillicutty then hit a neckbreaker for the pin. There was some comedy from Santino along the way. (*)

(8) U.S. champion Kofi Kingston beat Dolph Ziggler to retain the U.S. Title. Kofi with a kick to the head and pin to retain the U.S. Title. Excellent series of false finishes; very well done. (**)

Miz_130GG_20.jpg
The main event was supposed to be a Fatal Four-way for the WWE Title. Miz was introduced first and did about five minutes on the microphone. He started on how he should be champion and would win the belt tonight. He then chastised fans for being behind Alex Riley, talked about how bad Riley really is, and said he had to fire him. Riley ran out, then attacked and destroyed Miz. The announcer then said it was now a triple-threat match for the WWE Title.

(9) WWE champion John Cena beat C.M. Punk and R-Truth in a three-way match to retain the WWE Title. For the finish, Punk rammed Truth into the steps outside of the ring, then brought in Cena's title belt. Punk swung & missed and Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment for the pin. Good match. Prior to the finish, Truth avoided contact for the first five minutes. Finally, Punk and Cena pulled him into the ring and double-teamed him. Of course, Punk then turned on Cena. (**)

Next date in the N.Y. area: White Plains on Sunday, July 24. It was announced that Bret Hart would make an appearance.
