WWE Smackdown house show results
November 13, 2010
Mannheim, Germany
Report by Daniel, PWTorch reader
Here's a report from tonight's WWE house show at the SAP-Arena in Mannheim.
(1) MVP beat Tyler Reks in the opening match. The crowd was fairly behind MVP, so they didn't quite notice the sloppy ring work. Reks avoided MVP's finisher, but was pinned with a boot to the face.
(2) Finlay beat Drew McIntyre. Finlay, who wrestled many years for Otto Wanz and Peter Willam in the German/Austrian CWA promotion, got a nice reaction. McIntyre dominated most parts of the match after he pushed Finlay into the ring steps. Finally, Finlay was able to use the shillelagh and scored the pinfall.
(3) Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler beat Cody Rhodes, Kaval, and Kofi Kingston in a four-way match to retain the IC Title. Nice, fast-paced match with Kaval landing several impressive kicks and Kofi hitting all three opponents with a plancha. Kingston laid out Rhodes with Trouble in Paradise, but was pinned after the Zig-Zag.
(4) Chris Masters beat Chavo Guerrero via submission. Chavo had a tough time being accepted as the heel. Not only because Masters got almost zero response, but because of the fifth anniversary of Eddie Guerrero's death, which the crowd immediately acknowledged. Late in the match, Chavo hit the Three Amigos suplexes, but failed on the frog splash, so he was caught in the Masterlock and tapped.
(5) Bret Hart & Hart Dynasty (D.H. Smith & Tyson Kidd) beat Nexus (David Otunga & Justin Gabriel & Husky Harris). Harris was quite over with some fans, but Bret Hart got the best reaction of the evening so far. Nexus dominated Kidd for some time, but in the end, Gabriel submitted to Hart's Sharpshooter.
[Intermission]
(6) Kelly Kelly beat Layla in a "Diva Dance-off." Four players from the local ice-hockey team and multiple-time German champions "Adler Mannheim" served as judges.
(7) Natalya beat co-Unified Divas champion Layla in a non-title match with Kelly Kelly as the guest referee. Really good match. Both women showed some great offense, including a long, delayed vertical suplex and a beautiful butterfly suplex from Natalya. In the end, she pinned Layla with a sitdown slam. It was much better than what you usually get to see from the Divas on TV. After the match, Layla attacked Natalya, but Kelly and Natalya fought her off.
(8) Edge & Rey Mysterio beat Alberto Del Rio & Jack Swagger. Edge got a really good reaction from the crowd, but the pop for Mysterio was deafening. The heels worked over Rey for a long time before the faces got their comeback. Swagger was hit with a 619/Spear combo and was pinned. After the match, his Eagle mascot got the same treatment. Rey then spoke to the crowd about Eddie Guerrero's death. Rey and Edge then did some Eddie poses.
(9) World Hvt. champion Kane and Big Show fought to a No Contest in the main event; Kane retained the World Hvt. Title. Horrible match to say the least. After endless minutes of stalling, the crowd got annoyed so the wrestlers started their match, but that was not much better. There were kicks and punches and punches and kicks. Kane kicked the ring steps into Show's leg, which led to rest holds and kicks against the injured leg. The match was so exciting that several people left in the middle of the main event. Big Show made a comeback and hit a weak chokeslam, but Kane had his foot on the bottom rope. The ref was knocked down and mercifully, Nexus ran in and ended that match. They beat down Big Show, but were confronted by several WWE guys. But since they were all heels, they joined in. Finally, most of the babyfaces (everyone except Hart, Finlay, and Edge) ran them off and Otunga had to suffer through all of their finishers.
Overall, a decent show. Highlights were the four-way and the Divas match as well as seeing two legends in Bret Hart and Fit Finlay possibly for the last time in Germany. The opener was not good, but not nearly as bad as the main event, which dragged down the entire event.
