Report by Bjorn, PWTorch reader
(1) MVP beat Tyler Reks. The match started slow with Reks in control. After a while, MVP sped up the match and won with a three count. Good opener.
(2) Drew McIntyre beat Kaval. Drew was the fan favorite and dominated the match. Kaval tried some high-flying action, but without any success. There was outside of the ring action where Drew slammed Kaval on the ringside barrier. Back in the ring, Kaval tried a sleeper, but Drew rescued himself in the ropes. Drew eventually hit the Future Shock DDT and won with a three count. Pretty good match with good action.
(3) Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler beat Chavo Guerrero, Cody Rhodes, and Kofi Kingston in a four-way match to retain the IC Title. Dolph tried to attack Kofi early on, but Kofi came back on Dolph after throwing Chavo and Cody out of the ring. So, inside the ring, it was mainly Dolph vs. Kofi for a long time. After all four were back in the ring, Kofi delivered a leg drop on Chavo and Cody. After that, Dolph applied his sleeperhold on Kofi. Finally, Dolph hit the Zig-Zag and won to remain IC champion. Good, fast match with a lot of action.
(4) Natalya beat Layla with Kelly Kelly as special referee. Layla brought a big ball to the ring and she showed off some gymnastics until Natalya hit the ball into Layla's face. A lot of mat wrestling, and Natalya finally won via pinfall. After the fall, Layla attacked Natalya until Kelly intervened and they dropped Layla with a double team move.
Well, a nice match for the men in attendance with some mat wrestling, but everyone was waiting for Bret Hart.
(5a) Sheamus vs. Edge in a Raw vs. Smackdown match went to a No Contest. The crowd was hot for some big names. Sheamus attacked Edge, then celebrated, until Rey Mysterio came out and helped. Alberto Del Rio then attacked Rey, which led to a tag match.
(5b) Rey Mysterio & Edge beat Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio. Before the match started, Rey and Edge made fun of Alberto's t-shirt. Most of the time, Sheamus and Del Rio worked on Rey in the ring. Each time they tried pinfalls, Edge interfered. Finally, Rey tagged in Edge, who delivered spears on Alberto and Sheamus. In the end, Ray hit the 619 on Sheamus and Edge speared him again. Edge covered Shamus and won the match. Good match, but Edge could have had more ring time. Most of the time, Sheamus and Alberto worked on Rey. But, finally the crowd was on fire in the arena.
[Intermission]
Nexus came into the arena without Wade Barrett to face Hart Dynasty.
(6) Bret Hart & Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd & D.H. Smith) beat Nexus in a six-man tag match. Most of the time, Nexus wrestled Kidd in the ring. It took a while before Kidd tagged out to Smith, who then tagged out to Hart. He applied the Sharpshooter on Slater for the win. It was nice to see The Hitman back in action, but, overall, I thought this match was boring.
(7) Chris Masters beat Jack Swagger (w/Eagle mascot) via submission. Not that special of a match. At the end, Masters put the Masterlock on the Eagle. Swagger tried to help his mascot, but missed and Masters pushed the eagle off the apron. Masters then put the Masterlock on Swagger, who had to give up.
(8) John Cena beat World Hvt. champion Kane via DQ, Kane retained the World Title. Remarkably, Cena did not have the Nexus armband. Slow match. Both tried to show some special moves, but it didn't seem like it was worthy of a main event. As Cena went for his submission move on Kane, the Nexus came out and attacked Cena, so Cena won via DQ.
After the attack, Rey, Kofi, and Kaval came out to help Cena. Cena then ripped off the Nexus logo t-shirt from David Otunga and all four faces showed their finishers on Otunga. The finishers went Kaval, Kofi, Rey, and Cena finishing him off. It was weird, why did Nexus attack Cena if he's part of the group, and then Cena attack Otunga?
