Ring of Honor show report
September 10, 2010
Plymouth, Mass.
Report by Nick Gifford, PWTorch reader

(1) ROH TV champion Eddie Edwards beat Erick Stevens to retain the TV Title. Edwards moves on to defend against Shawn Daivari on the Internet PPV tomorrow night.

(2) Grizzly Redwood beat "Brutal" Bob Evans by pinfall in a relatively quick opener. Very early on, a fan at ringside tried attacking Redwood, who of course, fought back. The fan, of course, was immediately ejected. Seriously, folks, if you're going to try something that stupid, at least wait until the main event. Bob Evans is a local New England wrestler who runs a school in Rhode Island. He trained Mike Bennett, who will be working with Roderick Strong later on.

(3) Austin Aries beat Kyle O'Reilly via submission with the Last Chancery. These guys really lit it up. Very hard kicks from both men. The crowd was really into it.

(4) Kevin Steen & Steve Corino beat Shawn Davairi & Necro Butcher in a First Blood match. This was a really good one. The highlight was when Steve Corino put his thumb up Daivari's ass during an abdominal stretch, and then smelled it. In the end, blood was drawn from Necro via a broken beer bottle.

[Intermission]

(5) The All-Night Express (Kenny King & Rhett Titus (w/Austin Aries) beat Matt Taven and...someone in a Finlay singlet. I'm sorry independent wrestlers, I don't know ALL your names. Good match, though. Some innovative action.

(6) Roderick Strong beat Mike Bennett. This match did a lot to showcase both men. Bennett has a look like a million bucks. It's good he was able to make it to ROH, as he had a lot of fans in the crowd. Unfortunately, the kid dressed like John Cena sitting near me would not stop chanting for a chokeslam or a 619. Oh, children.

(7) ROH tag team champions the Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) beat Colt Cabana & El Generico in a FANTASTIC match to retain the ROH Tag Titles. Everyone brought it tonight. I can't wait to see the Kings vs. Haas & Benjamin tomorrow night on the PPV.

(8) ROH World champion Tyler Black and Christopher Daniels wrestled to a 30-minute draw in a non-title match. Black refused Daniels's request for five more minutes. Obviously, the work was great, but the real story was the crowd's hatred for Black. He had some really good heat here tonight. Many humorous chants directed at Black, such as "future jobber," "NXT," "vintage," and "You can't see us." A good match for the future Hermes Dillinger, or whatever dumb name WWE thinks of for him.

In conclusion: it seemed to me like the show was a bit rushed, clocking in at only two-and-a-half hours (new booking philosophy?). But, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. ROH returns to Plymouth in the Boston area on December 17.
