WWE Raw brand house show results
June 4, 2010
Asheville, N.C.
Report by Ricky Lanning, PWTorch reader
I generally head to Greenville, S.C. for WWE events, so it was nice to head to a house show close to home. The Civic Center was about half-full with a lot of empty seats the entire night. I'm thinking it will probably be some time before WWE heads back to Asheville.
(1) U.S. champion R-Truth beat John Morrison and The Miz in a three-way match to retain the U.S. Title. Nice opening match to get the crowd going. R-Truth and John Morrison both got a good reaction with The Miz getting the most heat of the night. I was hoping for a Miz promo, but R-Truth wouldn't let him have the microphone. The Miz sat outside of the ring for most of the match, only going in to break up the count when necessary. R-Truth eventually pinned The Miz for the victory.
(2) Dos Caras, Jr. beat Goldust. Dos Caras cut a promo in Spanish and then translated into English. He went on to say he wasn't going to speak English anymore and if the crowd wanted to know what he was saying, they will need to learn Spanish. The crowd was really into Goldust and the two had a really good match. Dos Caras won with an enziguiri.
(3) Wade Barrett beat Yoshi Tatsu. Wade still doesn't have his own theme music, as he came out to the NXT theme. He cut a promo saying there was never any doubt that he would win NXT, and that there were few guarantees in life and that Wade Barrett was one of them. Yoshi got in a fair amount of offense before Barrett took control and finished him off for the win.
(4) Unified tag champions Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd & D.H. Smith) beat Uso Brothers to retain the Unified tag titles. The crowd was pretty hot for the Hart Dynasty. I hope we get to see more of the Usos down the road. Hart Dynasty won with the springboard Hart Attack.
(5) Divas champion Eve Torres beat Maryse to retain the Divas Title. Standard Divas match. They spent the majority of the time having a mini-dance-off before having what amounted to a two-minute match with Eve getting the pinfall for the win.
(6) Mark Henry beat Ted DiBiase via DQ. I didn't really have high hopes for this match-up. It was a slow-moving match with DiBiase getting disqualified for using the Million Dollar Belt as a weapon.
(7) WWE champion John Cena & Evan Bourne beat Edge & Sheamus. With it being no secret that Edge is now a hometown boy, he got a good-to-mixed reaction from the crowd. This was the longest match of the night and the roof about came off during Cena's introduction. Bourne is definitely getting a good rub being paired up with Cena. Cena & Bourne went on to win with Bourne hitting the Air Bourne on Edge after the Attitude Adjustment from Cena.
Also of note was Chris Jericho not making his scheduled CD signing appearance at FYE and he didn't make the event either. He apologized through his Twitter page, though, saying he would make it up to us next time.
