WWE Smackdown brand house show report
February 28, 2010
Abilene, Tex.
Report by Taylor Cambre, Torch reader

(1) Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard & JTG) beat Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd & D.H. Smith) in a really decent match. Hart Dynasty had good chemistry and worked really well as a cohesive tag team.

(2) Luke Gallows (w/Serena) beat Goldust. C.M. Punk didn't accompany Gallows, who won, but Goldust was the clear crowd favorite.

(3) Tiffany & Savannah beat Beth Phoenix & Layla. Tiffany and Savannah won handily. Crowd had been crazy hot thus far.

(4) Great Khali beat Mike Knox. Knox is a scary looking dude. Khali got a decent pop and Knox tried to run away in a humorous spot. The match then started with Khali hitting the chest slap to a pop. Back and forth they go, until Khali landed a huge chokeslam for the pin.

Next up, Drew McIntyre took the mic to "you suck" chants. He started to leave when Kane's music hit. Drew pulled the "I'm leaving" card again, but Kane pulled him into the ring.

(5) Intercontinental champion Drew McIntyre and Kane wrestled to a double count-out. Kane got in some serious offense and hit a seated dropkick to a two count. He teased a chokeslam, but Drew countered with the Future Shock. They brawled to the floor, which led to a double count-out.

(6) Ezekiel Jackson beat Matt Hardy. Largely forgettable match, but the crowd was hot for Hardy.

(7) R-Truth beat Dolph Ziggler. The crowd started with the "Mr. Ziggles" chant. Truth dominated with Ziggler on the losing side the whole match. I must have heard wassup 100 times. Also forgettable, but decent.

Time for the main event. Crap, Punk garners serious heat. He called us all losers, then challenged the big guy in front of me (I was third row) to come up and fight. He told us all how much better he is than us. Jericho came out to boos and he said Canada beat USA, prompting a "USA! USA!" chant. He says Canada will always win. John Morrison's music then hit to a big pop. He came out to shut Jericho up. He played to the crowd, gearing them up for the match. Metaligus hit and everyone went nuts for Edge, who was clearly a face here. Punk took off his shirt, Edge blew his nose in it, and JoMo wiped his ass with it. Funny. John then took off his shirt, threw it to the crowd, and I caught it.

(8) Edge & John Morrison beat World Hvt. champion Chris Jericho & C.M. Punk (w/Luke Gallows). JoMo and Punk started. Punk worked over Morrison, knocking him to the floor. Jericho then hit a running enziguiri kick to Morrison. After a while, Edge tagged in and teased the spear, but Punk countered and Edge tagged JoMo in for some quick offense. John nailed a springboard dropkick, then teased the Starship Pain, but Gallows pulled him out of the way. Punk yelled for Jericho, but a smirking Chris began to walk away. Punk got back in, but he was hit with a spear for the pin by Edge. Biggest pop of the night.

Really hot crowd with the building 80 percent full or so. All of the faces were cheered and the heels were booed. Great time for my first house show.
