WWE Supershow house show report
December 5, 2009
Bossier City, Louisiana
Report by Matthew Valcho, Torch reader
We walked into the arena about seven minutes before the show started. The top level was curtained off, so the bottom was about three-fourths full. Tony Chimel came out and the National Anthem was played. He then welcomed us to the show and announced the first match.
(1) The Hurricane & Goldust & Tommy Dreamer defeated Zack Ryder (w/Rosa Mendes) & Ezekiel Jackson & Vance Archer. Solid opening with plenty of high-flying moves from Hurricane. Everyone entered the ring and fought, then Goldust picked up the win by pinning Ryder.
A family was moved to ringside after answering where WrestleMania will be next year. Then Sheamus made his ring entrance and cut a promo on how he was making an impact on WWE and he talked about his match against John Cena at TLC. He then issued an open challenge to anyone from any brand.
(2) Sheamus defeated Evan Bourne. Evan is pretty short in person. Bourne started the match with kicks to Sheamus, getting a nearfall, then he went to the top rope and was thrown down by Sheamus. Sheamus powerbombed Bourne for the win. I had seats by the entrance ramp, so I heard a lot of people screaming "Get A Tan" and "Watch your Lucky Charms."
Chimel introduced the guest ring announcer for the divas match: Jillian Hall.
(3) Mickie James defeated Beth Phoenix. Same old same old divas match with a few people around me chanting Piggy James. Mickie won with a reversal into a DDT.
Tony Chimel plugged merchandise and The Marine 2 with Ted DiBiase.
(4) Chavo Guerrero defeated Alex Riley (FCW developmental wrestler). People were thinkink of insults all night. One person screamed "You're no Eddie!" Chavo won with the frogsplash.
(5) Matt Hardy & Kane defeated Legacy (Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes). Kane won by chokeslamming Cody. Matt seemed a bit scared of Kane at the end when he raised his hand in victory.
(6) Kofi Kingston defeated Jack Swagger. Kofi was over with the crowd big-time. He went for the Boom leg drop and Swagger moved. Later, he hit Trouble in Paradise for the win.
[INTERMISSION]
Drew McIntyre came and cut a promo about the IC Title shot against John Morrison and how he got it.
(7) Drew McIntyre defeated Jimmy Wang Yang. Lots of USA chants. Pretty slow match. People were still coming back from intermission.
Chimel plugged TLC.
(8) ECW champion Christian defeated William Regal to retain the ECW Championship. A few USA chants until they heard Christian was from Canada. This match would not end. Regal insulted Bossier and got MASSIVE heat. Christian would raise his hand and get cheers then point at Regal and get boos. They finally got underway with Christian hitting the Killswitch for the win.
(9) Main Event: Triple H defeated Randy Orton in a No DQ, Falls count anywhere match. A sign said "I hear voices in my head, too, Randy, and they say you suck." The match started with a few submissions and hits. Orton went for a trashcan and hit Triple H with it. Later, Hunter made a comeback after hitting Orton with the can. He went for the pin, but Legacy broke it up. Hunter was beat down until Kofi came out to drive Legacy away. He then turned around and was hit with an RKO. While Orton was getting ready to punt Kofi, Hunter got his sledgehammer, hit Orton for the pin, and sent the crowd home happy.
Overall, great show. Four out of five. If a WWE event comes close to your town, I would recommend going. Sign Guy was there and was one of the main guys that stirred up Regal. Not as many big name guys were there due to Tribute to the Troops traveling, but there was a good variety of wrestlers from different brands.
Biggest Pops:
(1) Triple H (by far)
(2) Christian
(3) Kofi Kingston
