7/11 TNA in Hamilton, Ontario: Second Report - Team 3D vs. Beer Money, Eric Young wrestles Earl Hebner, TNA title change SPOILER Jul 11, 2009 - 6:40:28 PM
TNA house show report
July 11, 2009
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Report by Chad Hogan, PWTorch.com reader
I went to the TNA house show in Hamilton, Ont. yesterday, and I must say, it was awsome. There were about 500-700 people in the arena, but the way TNA set up the ring, it was a tight-knit area and everyone was close enough to the action to create a "big show" feel.
(1) Eric Young beat Suicide by pinfall. Suicide played the heel, while Young played the face. After the match, Young and ref Earl Hebner (lots of you screwed Bret chants) jokingly wrestled for a moment, with Young pinning Hebner.
By the by, I almost got my autograph signed by Hebner, but the line was too long. He has a REALLY thick southern accent, I never knew that.
(2) Angelina Love beat Taylor Wilde by pinfall. Wilde was the face, but both women received a nice exit by Borash.
(3) Not-yet-on-TV-X Division champion Homicide beat Consequences Creed by pinfall to retain the X Division Championship. JB announced this was one of Homicide's first title defenses. Cool match. Crowd was really into Homicide.
(4) Legends champion A.J. Styles & Daniels beat Kurt Angle & Samoa Joe. Best match of the night. Daniels did a nice moonsault, and A.J. was literally on fire. Angle and Joe looked great too, but I heard some noobs teling Joe to "go eat another doughnut." Man I wish Joe had a license to kill. Joe looked better in person than he does on TV, though, and I do not mean that as an insult. Very fast in the ring.
Intermission time. Here's a funny TNA-first time story for you. My friends and I (there were 5 of us) decided to go out for a smoke break. After we finished, we walked towards the break area (we dipped past the fence) and were greeted by two cops and a Paul Blart. They asked us if we had tickets, and we showed them. Then the cops asked us about the funky smell coming off our clothes, and after proving to them we had no more smoke on us, they let us back in with a warning. I love Canada!
Anyways, back into the arena...
(5) Jay Lethal beat Sheik Abdul Bashir by pinfall. Sheik was MASSIVELY over as a heel, and cut a great Middle Eastern-spoken promo, with the only words we could understand were U.S.A. and Hamilton, probably comparing Hamilton to his hated U.S.A. Jay Lethal got a great crowd reaction.
6) TNA tag team champions Beer Money (Robert Roode & James Storm) beat Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) to retain the TNA tag titles. Beer Money got some derogatory chants, such as "Robert Sucks," even though everyone loved 'em, so BM played it up by "accidentally" falling into some, ahem, precarious positions. The two told Hamilton that if they suck, Canada swallows, so the whole match was a big play-up. After interference from Bashir, BM won. Team 3D put Bashir into a table, and D-Von even kissed a girl in the crowd.
After the match, Team 3D posed in the ring for 20 bucks. JB said it was a Friday Night Autograph party, but my friends and I didn't wait around due to our ride being there and me having to go straight to work.
All in all, an awsome show. JB mentioned Hamilton would be a great place for a PPV, and I agree! Thank you TNA!
