WWE Smackdown/Raw house show report
June 13, 2009
Binghamton, N.Y.
Report by Wilson Wells, Torch reader
(1) John Morrison defeated Mike Knox. A good back and forth match that Morrison ended with a corkscrew body pin. Morrison got a huge pop.
(2) The Hart Dynasty (D.H. Smith & Tyson Kidd) defeated Evan Bourne and Hurricane Helms. The Dynasty led through most of the match with Helms getting very limited action. Match ended badly with D.H. Smith pinning Helms after a small clothesline.
(3) Ricky Steamboat defeated Drew McIntyre. The most boring match of the night. Almost 20 minutes of mat-wrestling. No, not even. They were sitting on the mat, just holding each other. They would get up for three seconds, get back down, and there was thunderous booing.
(4) Great Khali defeated Dolph Ziggler. A good match, could've been better. Khali led for the most part, but the match ended with Ziggler screaming at some fan, then turning around right into a chokeslam.
(5) ECW champion Tommy Dreamer defeated Jack Swagger to retain the ECW Title. A very good match. Overall, one of, if not the best matches of the night. Plus, Dreamer was awesome after the match, walking up the ramp while holding the belt in the crowd, letting people touch it. Never seen this.
(6) World Hvt. champion C.M. Punk defeated Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy to retain the World Hvt. Title. One word: amazing. This match couldn't have been better. Lots of reversals, lots of finishers, and broken up pins. It was awesome. After the match, C.M. helps Rey up, grabs mic. Starts talking about how he beat Jeff at Extreme Rules. Jeff grabs mic, says you won fair and square, then gives Punk the Twist of Fate.
They were selling hand autographed pictures of Jeff Hardy for $20. Great price.
Biggest Pops
1 - Jeff Hardy
2 - John Morrison
3 - Rey Mysterio
Biggest Heel reactions
1 - Mike Knox
2 - Hart Dynasty
