WWE U.K. Tour house show results
April 23, 2009
Glasgow, Scotland
Report by Robert M., PWTorch.com reader

Torch Reader Alert: We are looking for WWE house show results from WWE's current U.K. tour. Send results to pwtorch@gmail.com.

Arena appeared to be sold out with about 4-5,000 in attendance. Crowd was mixed but mostly young-ish children. Crowd was lively for most of the time, which is to be expected for one of only a couple of WWE shows all year.

(1) Evan Bourne beat Tyson Kidd. Match was slower and more ground-based than you might have expected. Bourne got a pretty good reaction and played well to the crowd. Bourne won with a shooting-star press.

(2) Finlay (w/Hornswoggle) beat Mark Henry. This match was saved by "Belfast Brawl" stipulation. Henry is massive and concerningly wet. His weapons of choice in this match were chinlocks and nerveholds. Finlay got a predictably good reaction and secured the win via a shillelagh shot following Hornswoggle shenanigans.

(3) Gail Kim & Bella Twins beat Divas champion Maryse & Katie Lea Burchill & Natalya. Performances in this one were better than might be expected and Gail Kim picked up the win following a "chin-kick" to Burchill. Kid behind me summed up crowd reaction by shouting "get this over with."

(4) U.S. champion MVP beat R-Truth and Shelton Benjamin in a three-way match to retain the U.S. Title. Crowd didn't know whether to boo or cheer for MVP. R-Truth got a strong reaction, although shouting "what's up" got tired after 36th time. These guys weren't operating at even 50 percent of ability and match was only fair as a result. MVP won with playmaker on Shelton.

(5) ECW champion Jack Swagger beat Christian. This was match of the night for me, with Swagger particularly impressive and playing the heel role well. Plenty of counters and nearfalls with Swagger eventually getting a three-count following gut-wrench powerbomb.

(6) Matt Hardy beat Jeff Hardy. Jeff Hardy got a fantastic reaction. Sorry to say that Matt looks slightly heavy. Again, much slower pace than you would see on TV. Plenty of "nine-counts" and restholds. Jeff won with swanton bomb to delight of teenage girls everywhere.

(7) WWE champion Triple H & The Undertaker beat Priceless (Ted DiBiase, Jr. & Cody Rhodes). Welcome to the most one-sided match of all-time. Triple H can beat Priceless without Taker's help! A decent main event, but fairly slow in the middle as the Game seemed to spend ages in a series of restholds before making a very hot tag to Taker to wind things up. Finish was pretty cool with stereo Pedigree and Tombstone.
