TNA house show report
April 4, 2009
New Orleans, La.
Report by James Honea, Jr., PWTorch.com reader
(1) Consequences Creed beat Eric Young and Kiyoshi in a triple threat match. Good fun opener for the card with Consequences Creed picking up the win.
(2) Black Machismo Jay Lethal beat Sheik Abdul Bashir. Crowd was really into Lethal as he probably got one of the loudest pops of the night. Great back and forth contest with Jay Lethal winning after the Lethal Combination followed by the elbow off the top rope.
(3) LAX (Homicide & Hernandez) beat No Limit. Homicide hit the Gringo Cutta from the top rope for the win.
(4) TNA Knockouts champion Awesome Kong beat Roxxi. Great reaction for hometown girl, Roxxi, who is billed as being from New Orleans. Short match that saw Awesome Kong win after the Implant Buster.
(5) TNA Legends champion A.J. Styles beat Scott Steiner. Funny moment before the match - a fan was trash-talking Steiner and Big Poppa Pump actually came into the audience and threatened him. The poor guy looked terrified. Pretty good match. A.J. won with the Pele to retain the title.
(6) Abyss beat Matt Morgan. One of the best matches of the night. Lots of power moves in this one that saw Abyss win with the Black Hole Slam.
(7) Jeff Jarrett & Mick Foley beat TNA tag team champions Beer Money, Inc. in a non-title Street Fight. Entertaining match with lots of humorous moments and plenty of garbage can shots and cookie sheets. After Foley used two pairs of tongs on Beer Money's nether regions, Jarrett used the guitar shortly after for the win.
TNA Live was definitely the best wrestling event I have ever seen. The matches were great, the crowd was into it, and afterwards, Mick Foley took pictures in the ring and A.J. Styles, Eric Young, Abyss, Roxxi, and a few others I didn't catch. All around, a very great event.
