5/2 WWE Raw in Montreal: Triple H vs. Orton in a cage, Jericho vs. Snitsky, Regal vs. Crazy May 3, 2008 - 12:58:57 AM
WWE Raw house show report
May 2, 2008
Montreal, Quebec
Report by Vincent Levesque Rousseau, PWTorch.com reader
About 7000-8000 in the 21000 seats Bell Centre tonight in Montreal.
Tony Chimel came to the ring and announced that Triple H will defend his WWE Championship against Randy Orton in the main event. The fans got to choose the stipulation via cell phone. They could choose between a Cage Match, a 2 out a 3 falls or a No DQ.
(1) London/Kendrick defeated Cade and Murdoch when Kendrick pinned Murdoch with a roll-up at 15:00. Good opening match. Cade and Murdoch are improving as a Tag Team and they had good heel heat.
After the match, we got the same aftermath that we saw on RAW with Cade walking off and Murdoch singing (which got a chorus of boos). Then the crowd chanted "Na na na hey hey hey good bye" to Murdoch.
(2) Cody Rhodes beat "The Natural" Nick Nemeth (formely Nicky of the Spirit Squad) with a DDT in 10:00. Boring Match!
(3) Carlito beat Shad in 10:00 with a roll-up. Carlito was wearing a Philadelphia Flyers (who are currently leading the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 in the playoffs) jersey. Carlito got lots of heat and the crowd chanted "Go Habs Go!" during the match.
(4) William Regal beat Super Crazy with the Regal Stretch at 6:00. This was almost a squash. Too bad for Super Crazy who is wasted talent.
After the match, Regal reminded the crowd that he is the King of the WWE and the GM of RAW so he's the most powerful entity in the WWE. He says that he's in a giving mood tonight so he brings out Katie Lea to give her a Women's Title Match.
(5) Women's Title Match: Mickie James beat Katie Lea with her DDT at 8:00. Good women's Title match. I wouldn't be surprised to see Katie Lea having a Women's Title Match on a PPV somewhere in the near future.
Intermission
(6) Intercontinental Championship Match: Chris Jericho beat Snitsky in 15:00. Yeah, it's true. Snitsky in a 15-minute match. Jericho did his best to keep it decent. The bottom line: Snitsky sucks!
Tony Chimel announced that the main event would be a Cage Match. So we have Judgment Day before Judgment Day.
(7) WWE Championship Steel Cage Match: Triple H beat Randy Orton with the Pedigree in 20:00. Great match! Slow pace for the first 5 minutes, but the last 15 minutes made it great. Not a MOTYC but nice way to end an average show. It sent the people home happy, and if they repeat or maybe top tonight's performance, we will have a good Judgment Day main event. Triple H celebrated for 10 minutes with the fans after the match.
The crowd was energetic tonight. I think that Montreal is due for a PPV or RAW/Smackdown.
No Cena, HBK, Kennedy, JBL, Umaga, Santino Marella.
