Pro Wrestling Guerilla presents: "Battle of Los Angeles" Night One
September 3, 2005
Hollywood, California at the Los Feliz JCC
Thanks to Matt Bukovsky and Evan Cudworth for phoning in live results from the show.
- At the top of the show, PWG co-commissioner Dino Winwood came to the ring and introduced Scorpio Sky. Sky, who made his return to PWG at last night's show, ripped on Scott Lost and challenged him to a match at the next PWG show on October 1.
(1) Chris Sabin & Hook Bomberry & TJ "Puma" Perkins beat Excalibur & Ronin & Disco Machine when Sabin pinned Excalibur with the Cradle Shock. Before the match, Excalibur said Sabin couldn't cut the mustard in last night's tag match.
(2) Quicksilver beat Rocky Romero with a roll up in a BOLA second round tournament match.
(3) Chris Bosh beat James Gibson with a roll up while hooking the tights in a BOLA second round tournament match. Joey Ryan and Scott Lost interfered during the match to help Bosh win in non-clean fashion. Gibson received a standing ovation after the match.
(4) American Dragon Bryan Danielson beat Christopher Daniels in a BOLA second round tournament match. The finish came when Daniels tapped out to the crossface chicken wing after 25 airplane spins. After the match, Danielson demanded an X Division Title match, but Daniels refused until Danielson was able to persuade him into placing the belt on the line at a future show.
(5) A.J. Styles beat PWG Champion Kevin Steen with the Spiral Tap in a BOLA second round tournament match. Before the match, Steen tried to convince Styles not to attack his knee and neck after suffering injuries last night. Styles opted to attack both body parts and won the match over the PWG Champion.
(6) Samoa Joe & Nosawa beat Top Gun Talwar & Kikutaro when Joe pinned Top Gun following the Muscle Buster. Comedy tag match with Joe and Nosawa dominating throughout.
[Intermission]
(7) Chris Bosh beat Quicksilver with a cradle pin in a BOLA semi-final tournament match. After several minutes of solid, intense action, Quicksilver connected with a sunset flip powerbomb from the apron to the floor sending the back of Bosh's head crashing to the ground. Bosh was knocked out and the referee stopped his 20-count at 19 with Bosh still outside the ring. The match continued and Bosh pinned Quicksilver after an awkward three-count.
(8) A.J. Styles beat American Dragon Bryan Danielson in a BOLA semi-final tournament match. The finish came when Styles countered Danielsons' airplane spin into a quick roll up for the victory.
(9) Frankie Kazarian & Jack Evans & Super Dragon & El Generico beat Joey Ryan & Scott Lost & Ricky Reyes & Davey Richards when Dragon pinned Richards following a Psycho Driver. Said to be an insane high spot match with Jack Evans flying all over the place. The crowd was on its feet during the majority of the match and went crazy for the finish. Match of the Weekend.
(10) Chris Bosh beat A.J. Styles to win the Battle of Los Angeles tournament. The finish came when Bosh connected with Maximum Bosh two times after blocking Styles's Spiral Tap by putting his knees up. The match went roughly seven minutes and the finish was clean. Both men were worn out in their third match of the show. After the match, Bosh received his BOLA trophy, but said he didn't want the trophy. Bosh said he wanted a shot at Kevin Steen's PWG Title instead of the trophy. Playing off A.J. Styles's Christian faith, Bosh cut a promo along the lines of Steve Austin at King of the Ring 1996 when Austin ripped on Jake Roberts. Styles, unaware that Bosh was playing off that promo, ripped the mic out of Bosh's hand and told him he would break his neck if he ever demeaned his beliefs again.
- Both weekend shows were packed to full capacity with attendance rivaling and possibly exceeding PWG's most successful series of shows on April 1 and 2 for All Star Weekend.
