Pro Wrestling Guerilla presents: "Battle of Los Angeles" Night One
September 3, 2005
Hollywood, California at the Los Feliz JCC
Thanks to Matt Bukovsky and Evan Cudworth for phoning in live results from the show.
(1) Top Gun Talwar & Hook Bomberry & Human Tornado beat Disco Machine & Excalibur & Chris Sabin when Tornado pinned Disco Machine. Sabin was able to return to the ring following his serious jaw injury.
(2) Rocky Romero beat Frankie Kazarian in a BOLA first round tournament match. Rocky went over Kazarian clean.
(3) Quicksilver beat Davey Richards in a BOLA first round tournament match. After fans and observers questioned PWG management for several weeks as to why Davey was being given the cold shoulder in not being included in the tournament, Davey was added in as a replacement for TJ "Puma" Perkins, who was scratched from the show due to an injury.
(4) James Gibson beat Joey Ryan with the Tiger Driver in a BOLA first round tournament match. Earlier this week, Joey Ryan posted a long message setting up this match with Joey claiming that Gibson ignored him when he first started in the business. Joey was seeking revenge and didn't get his revenge.
(5) Chris Bosh beat El Generico with Maximum Bosh in a BOLA first round tournament match. At last month's show, Bosh said he was tired of losing and was not going to be defeated in the near future. So far, so good.
[Intermission]
(6) American Dragon Bryan Danielson beat Ricky Reyes with the Crossface Chicken Wing in a BOLA first round tournament match. Danielson failed to deliver the airplane spin, but the match was said to be very good.
(7) Christopher Daniels beat Scott Lost with Angel's Wings in a BOLA first round tournament match. After the match, Scorpio Sky made his return to PWG after being unmasked at the two-year anniversary show on July 9. Sky, who was wearing his mask again, attacked Scott Lost, who helped unmask Scorpio two months ago. Sky ripped into Lost then took off his mask and threw it down before leaving.
(8) A.J. Styles beat Jack Evans with the Styles Clash in a BOLA first round tournament match. Styles and Evans appeared to change the finish after they were unable to execute an apparent top turnbuckle huricanrana spot where Styles fell to the floor. Styles scored the Styles Clash on the floor immediately following the missed spot then rolled Evans into the ring where he pinned him. Other than missed finishing sequence, the match was said to be a crazy high spot match.
(9) PWG Champion Kevin Steen beat Super Dragon with a roll up in a BOLA first round tournament match. The finish came when Dragon connected with his Psycho Driver finisher, only to have Steen counter with an immediate roll up.
The final rounds of the tournament will take place Sunday afternoon at 5 PM in Hollywood.
