WWE Smackdown house show
December 5, 2004
New York, N.Y. at Madison Square Garden
Report by David Omansky, PWTorch.com correspondent
Just got back from the Smackdown house show at Madison Square Garden. There were an estimated 6,000-6,500 people.
The next MSG show will be the Raw brand, which will be on Friday, January 21, at 7:30 P.M. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, January 8th.
Justin Roberts came out as the announcer for the evening. Torrie Wilson followed by getting the crowd pumped up.
(1) Spike Dudley beat Nunzio & Shannon Moore & Funaki in a fatal-four-way match to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Title. The faces were beating up Spike for a good portion of the match, but Spike won with a rollup on Moore. Good match.
(2) Big Show beat Kurt Angle & Luther Reigns & Mark Jindrak in a 3-on-1 handicapped match. It was originally Show vs. Angle until Jindrak & Luther came down. Big Show gave a choke slam to Luther and Jindrak at the same time and pinned both. Good match.
(3) Jesus beat Charlie Haas. Jesus rolled up Haas and put his feet on the ropes to win. 1/2*
(4) Chavo Guerrero beat Kidman. Chavo won with a gory bomb. Okay.
Theodore Long came out and announced some more matches that would take place later on.
(5) JBL (w/Orlando Jordan) defeated Boooker T and Eddie Guerrero in a triple threat match to retain the WWE Title. Jordan interfered on several occasions. JBL hit Booker with the title belt and pinned him. Very good match.
(6) Rene Dupree & Kenzo Suzuki (w/Hiroko) defeated Rob Van Dam & Rey Mysterio to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles. Dupree threw salt into Mysterio’s eyes, and Suzuki pinned Mysterio. Good match.
(7) Miss Jackie beat Dawn Marie. Jackie won with a rollup. After the match, Dawn was about to hit Jackie with a chair, but Torrie Wilson made the save. That brought out Hiroko, and Torrie and Miss Jackie cleaned house.
(8) Undertaker defeated Heidenreich (w/Paul Heyman). It was a long match, and Undertaker won after a choke slam and a tombstone. After the match, JBL came out with Orlando Jordan, and they started to beat down Undertaker. Booker and Guerrero came back out, and Undertaker gave Jordan a choke slam and JBL a tombstone to close out the show. Okay match.
Overall it was a pretty good show. The main event wasn’t good, which was expected. The best match was the WWE title match. This show looks like what Armageddon will be.
QUICK TIPS FOR SENDING RESULTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to "matchresults" (@pwtorch.com).
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1), (2), (3), with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who over whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking over their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the "&" symbol as opposed to stating "and. " Reserve use of "and" when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. "Wrestler A over Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match") so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
