SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
SHOW SUMMARY: In this edition of the Bruce Mitchell Audio Show, hosted by PWTorch editor Wade Keller, Bruce and Wade kicked off Starrcast weekend at the Hyatt Regency Shaumberg hotel lobby right at the entrance to the hotel on the podcast stage sponsored by Westwood One. They are interrupted early by the arrival of Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels walking past them, followed by Cody getting a huge pop as he walked through the lobby. They discuss All In and Starrcast and what the weekend signifies about the evolution of pro wrestling, how it’s promoted, how fans interact with the wrestlers and the promotion, and more. They explore the ramifications of Cody, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega possibly signing with WWE or staying independent. Also, what has WWE done (or not done) that led to this mega-weekend in Chicago, what would a 30 year old Paul Heyman do in 2018 with the power and reach of social media and YouTube that he didn’t have when he was leading the insurgent ECW as a counter-culture pro wrestling promotion that grew from discontent with the dominant corporate promotions of the era. How possible is it that WWE might send Kevin Owens to “All In” since he “quit” Raw on Monday? How about the impact of Neville showing up? They also talk with Matt Koon about the returns of Trish Stratus and The Bellas and how they’re being pushed at different levels, but it is reflective of their actual historic importance. And some PCO and Daniel Bryan talk.
